But it's true though - you're more apt to visit a store that's directly on your regular walking path than to take even a 1 block detour - and most new residential is north of West 2nd, so going to west 2nd is not the most convenient.

i.e. from TD Tower to Cambie & Nelson,
I'm more apt to stop in at IGA on Robson (my usual route), than detour to Nestor's on Seymour.

Right on, Officedweller. I guess people who truly walk, take transit and shop in the neighbourhood would understand. 1 or 2 blocks is nothing for folks who drive everywhere. The ethos of OV is to become a green and sustainable place, but planning and the subsequent execution isn't really going that way.

I do all of those things, thanks.

You really have some kind of weird attitude problem. Changing your tone would go a long, long way to having people take you more seriously.

That's what I've been telling him many times. If you're going to be condescending, at least do it in a subtle and classy way.

Carless person right here! Anything less than a 10min walk is considered "convenient" to me. It's part of the lifestyle

My bad, and that 10min trek to shop or commute to work, good for you!

But then again, we are talking about convenience here, and not everyone is fit like yourself.

At first I couldn't have an opinion because I supposedly didn't walk enough, and now my opinion is invalid because I walk too much?

Maybe if you focused more on developing your arguments instead of personal attacks you'd be a more convincing debater.

Thank you for your suggestion, and point noted!

"The One" looks close to being finished. That sure is a nice building, bet the roof top pool will be amazing with great views of downtown.

Pinnacle's target completion date for this project was in April. By the looks of it, I think it's likely to finish at around September

A new crane? I was walking through the intersection of W. 2nd and Cambie (near the police station) and noticed this today. Not sure what project it is.

Yea and they can't build it fast enough. Be nice to cover up wall centre. So they are just building the second building? Have they started selling the third?

Note sure if anyone has mentioned that 2 storey grey building at 2nd and Columbia (aka just west of the West development) is coming up for a development permit board meeting this October:

201 West 2nd Avenue, DE419256, Francl Architecture
"To develop this site with a 17 storey multiple dwelling building over 2 levels of underground parking. Meeting Date: October 5, 2015"

Thanks -
The Changing City link says Concord "switched to" GBL - but the present application is by Walter Francl.... so another change in design?

No doubt. Maybe the CoV should just build it now, while all of this Translink — gets sorted out.
