That Gazebo's a joke right? It looks like a DIY kit from Home Depot.

We were down at East Village/Fort Calgary for Canada day, and while the newer parts of the river pathway were great as expected, the grounds at Fort Calgary are pretty brutal. I know there's a new interpretive centre in the works, but that's one place that could really use some attention when it comes to landscaping/sidewalk upgrades.

I agree. Not sure why they'd even bother with a rendering for such a utilitarian structure. Is it being paid for by Quebec City? Is that why there's that banner on it?

It was a gift from Quebec City in 2012. It was slated to be installed in the summer of 2013 but the flood delayed it until this year.

In Quebec City, the Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand hosts concerts on summer evenings (28 in 2015 - link). In Calgary it will similarly incorporate a natural amphitheatre and I'm sure it will be put to similar use.

I haven't seen anyone mention this even though its a small detail but the new RioCan/Embassy Bosa development will be called "Arris" and the sales centre will open sometime this year.

Thanks for the explanation of the bandstand. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the rendering on the news. Honestly, it looked so marginal. Like a banana stand really. There's always money in the banana stand.

Has been for many, many years. I learned about the relationship in the 80's in a social studies class. The idea, in part, is in fact to have different places, so that they can learn from one another. Other sister cities of Calgary include Phoenix (Arizona, USA), Daqing (China), Jaipur (Ragistan, India), Daejeon (South Korea) and Naucalpan (Mexico). The bridge from Eau Claire to Prince's Island is called the Jaipur bridge and there is a plaque on it explaining. When you visit city hall, there are displays of things that having been gifted from our sister cities (turban, dolls, art, etc.).

Perhaps you are new to the city or haven't had time to really explore. I'm really encourage it. There are hidden gems all around. I think the issue in our city with people isn't if they drive, bike or walk, but too many of us just wanting to get from A to B and not really taking the city in and in doing so becoming part of the city. I'm not meaning to knock you, rather, really encouraging you and others to spend time and explore, particularly those things that seem somewhat foreign (but end up not being at all). Too many people only engage with those things they already know about, and thus irrespective of where they live in a city or what city it is, they are in reality hermits. I don't like hermits.
