Interesting proposal by Scotiabank for a new building in downtown Kingston that would consolidate the two existing downtown branches and also form a new regional head office:

(The Kingston Whig-Standard)
The building that currently exists has an 1850s stone facade on the bottom floors, but 1960s stucco on the top floor.
Under this proposal the 1960s top floor will be demolished, and the 1850s stone facade will be taken apart and reassembled on the top floor, following which the bottom floor will be replaced with glass. The building will also be extended around the corner onto what is currently a plaster blank wall hiding a utilities cage, with the new extension entirely in glass.
I like it for the most part (NOT a fan of those tacky red bars). This removes the mid-20th century ugliness, while adding some modern flair. Glass additions to heritage buildings has been done several times in central Kingston and it always mixes really well with the old architecture.
