Yes, golf courses are sporting venues but they aren't stadium or arenas unless they have benches for spectators to sit and watch a game.

Even Halifax would have likely made more sense. Hell, they could have held it in Baltimore and probably drawn at least 20K, a salute to the 20th Grey Cup anniversary for that city

I agree with you that it's worthy It's a beautiful course. However I just think that it would make much more sense to start a thread for golf courses so that this thread doesn't get Bombarded with community Golf courses.

Chipman was on TSN 1290 and said the Moose have sold just over 3300 season ticket holders but would need 4500-5000 to break even. I'm wondering how they made money in St johns at 5000 per game but couldn't make money in WPG at 3500. Your building is essentially cost free since the jets pay the bills, majority of Your staff are already on the payroll, Travel costs are probably lower with being central. Anyone have any outlook on this?

^ It doesn't make much sense based on what you're suggesting that Chipman said. Much lower overhead operating a team in Wpg, and let's face it, how many AHL teams have a STH base much greater than 3300? Not many would be my guess. Yet all those other teams find a way to make it work.

I'm looking forward to having the Moose back, but whatever, if TNSE is losing money then move them. No one will lose any sleep over it.

Yeah, Rider fans travel better than any other fanbase in the country and there are probably a decent number of former Saskatchewan residents living in central and northern Alberta as opposed to few, if any, from southern Ontario.

I think that Pre-season game was planned for well over a year while the regular season game featuring the Argos and the Eskies was only planned this off season. That helps with ticket sales.

Another factor that you stated were the high prices for tickets to 2 events in a city of 70,000, many of which are transient and working or sleeping while the game is happening.

I'm thinking the primary reason for the game in Fort Mac was money. I'm sure Braley was offered a substantial sum of money to bring this game to Fort Mac - something that could not or would not be matched by organizers in cities like London, Guelph, Halifax and who knows who else. I wonder if the Fort Mac taxpayers are on the hook for what has to be big losses from this event?

Regardless, I doubt we ever see a regular season game in Fort Mac in our lifetime again. Hey, where is ISaidSo? Remember when he told us Fort Mac was a future CFl expansion city in 10 - 20 years.

Maybe Chipman meant 4500 - 5500 average per game (not all season ticketholders) to break even. That would make more sense in my mind.

In the context of soccer, turf = artificial.

For example http://quality.fifa.com/en/Football-Turf/ refers uniquely to artificial turf. Page 1 of Google Search for "soccer turf" and "football turf" both completely refer to artificial. I just love how I prove you wrong on the Vegas thing and you shut right up. I was hoping I could do the same thing here. I'm From Cold Lake Alberta. We produce just under half the oil fort mac does. The name was an obvious Choice. Go back to when TD place was being built you can see me and fatty going back and forth. If you want fatty he's right above me. Again kick rocks

Nope, I also don't know where to find anybody that cares about the Pan Am Games. There's less excitement in Toronto for this then when we held the 100th Grey Cup which was almost no excitement.
