I am told staff at BMO were told recently that the July move date has been rescinded as progress on the building has been delayed. Apparently the notifications that went out to customers are being re-sent with a new date sometime in September. That seems more realistic.

I inquired about these apartments a few weeks ago, I think there were only 4 left at that point.

Colin will surely now appear and suggest that the other apartments were rented by numbered companies owned by the developer.

He only does that for specific places he's against in areas he doesn't want to see developed as if it has any swaying power. I'm sure every developer is reading it and think oh we better not build, this guy on the internet forum says so.

Their target market is likely somebody who considers the noise a fair tradeoff for the location.

Give me time. It takes hours to plow through the documents for each unit. I never 'suggest' re ownership of units, I prefer to get the information from the Registry of Deeds - no hype there.

Your first sentence has no basis in fact.

I went past this today and was stunned to see the apparent lack of progress since the last time I was here. BMO is supposed to move in and open for business in 3 weeks. I think that will be a modern miracle based upon what I saw today. It looks very unfinished indeed. I am a customer of that BMO branch, currently of SGR & Queen, and got a notice (the second such one sent, superseding the original one promising a July opening) saying they would move in and open on Sept. 28. I look forward to a 3rd notice announcing a November date.

^ I haven't been by in a while so I can't comment specifically on this project but it is possible for a building to be occupied before it is complete. There are people living in the Q Lofts right now and there aren't even balconies installed!

I just happened to snag some pics today. The sidewalk is mostly poured and only a bit of cladding left to do on the ground floor. I too am a bit sceptical that it will be ready in time though. Otherwise this one is looking really nice.

There are people currently living in the penthouse apartments. I was at The Rope Loft at Rogues Roost for their last night in business (

) and I could see shadows of people going about their evening in the apartments.

HTH do they get in? The place is surrounded by construction fencing. I cannot imagine HRM would issue an occupancy permit.

I checked today on my walk home. On the rear corner there's a portion that's not fenced and it appears to go to a finished residential lobby. Also, it looks like there's furniture in the third floor unit on the Birmingham side. It does indeed seem like the residential portion of the building is occupied.

You can get occupancy permits floor by floor as long as base building is done on all floors... ( water, fire supression, electrical, ect...)

Not sure if this has been posted yet but this building is somewhat unusual in that it has some bike parking but no parking spots for cars. Car parking requirements used to be a sticking point with inner-city developments. Often neighbours demand them because they believe that requiring parking in the buildings will relieve pressure on on-street parking.

Nice. Smart to employ the Chinese characters to attract business from that growing local community.

Also, happy to see Sleep Country has stayed downtown. They must have been making decent money, as the development on their last location gave them an opportunity to vacate back to big box. Clearly, they're here to stay.
