This makes me sad. Quiznos is far and away superior than Subway, and prices are reasonable. And there's always been a handful of people in there whenever I went in. First Panago, now Quiznos.

Quiznos are ok. I find them expensive and you don't get much on the sandwich. Way better bang for buck at Subway. You can have the veggies you want while there's hardly any veggies in Quiznos sub. Their conveyor toaster oven are slow too.

As for Panago, totally agreed. Such a shame. They had great pizza and the owner, Joe, is a super fella. I'd say the overheads got to him. It's a B location with very high rent. Too bad.

My bad. I might have jumped the 🞵🞵🞵 as that I was out of town when I heard they weren't open yesterday. It seems they are open today. Maybe they are shutting down on Sunday's due to lack of traffic

Does anyone know or have any information on Skipper Jacks on Mapleton Road closing or maybe closing for remodeling? It has been maybe 1-2 weeks and every time I go by there it has no cars in the front or back lot. I tried the doors once and it was locked and dark inside.

Also, I see there is a place that opened on Halifax Street near the circle interchange at Killam/Purdy/Russ Howard. It is called Storey's Thrift store. Anyone know anything about them?

Skipper Jacks had a small fire a couple months ago, maybe even last winter. They closed "for two weeks" for repairs if I recall.
It's been a long two weeks.

The Bass Pro Shop job fair is on right now. Also, construction at the new store is quite definitely switching into high gear. Things are looking up!

There are rumors floating around saying that Giant Tiger is either taking over the Mappleton Coop location or expanding into it... If it's true, and they do this right they will give Moncton Walmart a run for it's money...

It looks like the new Sports Chek is moving along and I have seen they started preliminary work in the new location that will house the new Canadian Tire. Also the new Bass Pro Shops is starting to look like something and can't wait to see the final product.

That would be interesting. The current Giant Tiger isn't really "giant" and could stand to be expanded. I could see them taking over at least part of that Co-op space.

You also mentioned in the Dieppe thread that Giant Tiger is looking at a location over there too, perhaps the Co-op store on Dieppe Blvd (which would allow the new Sobey's strip mall at Dieppe Blvd & Yvonne to proceed.

If true, that's a pretty aggressive expansion plan for Giant Tiger in the city. I wonder why........

The way I understood it Coop in Dieppe would be an IGA but because the current location is to small they would build the new IGA store like the Sobeys on Vaughn Harvey, and Giant Tiger would take the entire 30 000 Sq Ft Coop... Not sure if the gas bar would stay, and be re branded or would follow the Grocery store, and go with to it's new home... I think personally the reason for there potential expansion for Giant Tiger is because there doing so well business wise, and the fact that the store does carry lots of things people ask for but don't carry it in local stores because of the lack of space... I've been in areas in Ontario a few years ago, and went back this year, and realized all the Giant Tigers in there areas where they lived had either moved or expanded where they stood where possible... So Maybe there doing the same in NB as well.

I just hope Sobeys still builds their new store and moves out of champlain place. Honestly though, they should have just combined the Champlain and Paul street stores and built one in Champlain Phase 2. All of the counting the unbuilt section, there is still more than 50,000 sq/ft of space for lease. More then enough for a Sobeys.

Mapleton Coop is closed now. It will re-open to the public June 30th for liquidation sales after employee only liquidation sales.

Up ti'll the 30th it's for employees, and card holders(Members)... I seen a few people with a full load... Not sure there will be anything left for Non members on the 30th...

I was over to the Mapleton Coop on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with customers. There was even a line of people waiting to get in and they had someone at the door letting some in as people left.

If it's anything like what happened when the Record street closed,you loose it. That's what happened to my parents.

As reported by T&T, there will be a new commercial and restaurant development located at Morton Avenue and McLaughlin Drive. It will consist of five building including two drive-thru restaurants. One being a sandwich shop and the other being a coffee shop.

My guess is Subway moving out of the needs building and Second Cup being the coffee shop.

5 Buildings? i thought it was only the one strip, and 2 drive true restaurants. I better go check the render again then.

I could see that... Subway could then have there own hours, and a drive true. Also could not see Starbucks trying to put in a second location so close to there Elmwood location.
