The situation has improved slightly, but there was a glut of terrible buildings that went up in a very short span of time. In fairness to the region, there has also been some major strides in high quality reurbanization along the King Street corridor.

I stayed in this hotel once. Every floor contains virtually identical suites. Mass "Luxury"

Most of Niagara Falls is sinfully fugly. Manhattan-by-the-falls for the first block. Camden-style wastelands for blocks beyond.

What is with the grandiose Stalinist monuments that the government is now obsessed with?

First the monument for victims of communism, now this giant turkey is planned to despoil the shores of Cape Breton Island. Behold, Mother Canada:

Seriously, I'm tired of anything pre 1982 being considered imperial canada.

To me building these ridiculous Cold War era monuments the way Harper and the federal government are doing is what's revisionist history. They're trying to make us this warrior nation which we simply aren't.
