Adding to HomeInMyShoes' reply, it was completed on December 31, 1967 (last minute to claim Centennial funds) for the Ottawa 67's who had to play in Hull for the first few months. The seats weren't fully installed on opening night so fans had to rip out seats from a building across from it.

Senators played there from October 1992 to December 1995 before moving to the Corel Centre 30 kilometers away in Kanata.

They've done some work to it along with the construction TD Place Stadium and the Lansdowne redevelopment, including adding retail to the front.

I wish they would have painted the beams red and black.

^did you only visit Laval? Because most Montreal suburbs don't look like Laval, which is the absolute worst. The nicest off-island suburbs are actually located in the North Shore (Rosemere, Lorraine, Ste-Thérèse).

Never seen the north shore. Laval always made the rest seem like a wasteland. My family lives in Boucherville in the south shore. It's very nice unlike Longueuil. Though to be fair the old part of Longueuil is nice.

Honestly, I only had the chance to see the suburban hell along the 15. I'm sure they're are a few decent places further from the main highway.

Quick look at Google maps, the nicer areas you're referring to seem more post-war suburbs built around old villages with character. Suburban development really took a dive in the 90s and 2000s IMO when they started to build these cheaply built, cookie-cutter McMansions on post-stamp sized lots and vast parking lots for big box stores along highways and main arteries.

I have a feeling that this is all premeditated. This is a master plan set up by résidences soleil to house all of our elderly and have them die sooner due to depression from living in such ugly buildings. This way the government doesn't have to continue paying for their pension. An evil plan by the government.

Les Résidences Soleil Manoir du Musée is a building from the 1910s alongside the Magog River (for power) in the heart of downtown that the City of Sherbrooke really wanted to keep (was vacant for a long time, ex textile plant)... everyone was really glad when a Résidence Soleil moved in there. If that's a cancer, everyone in Sherbrooke would be happy to have more of it spread around.

The eastern Manoir Soleil (in Fleurimont) -- I think it's the one they simply call Manoir Sherbrooke -- is pretty okay. I mean that it looks like all other buildings in such a suburban medium-density environment. (4-story blocks from the '70s, '80s, '90s.) Doesn't stand out as ugly, might even be slightly better than average (it's newer than average for the area).

I don't know about the others but just because it's on that list, you can't assume it's not a centenarian heritage building in the heart of downtown.
