I would love to see what some artists could do with a 2013 Flood theme. It would be much more appropriate for the location (think: rebounding after the flood. St. Patrick's Island was changed so drastically by it but will be amazing when refurbished).

Well worth $500K. I was thinking of an ark, but instead of two of every animal lining up to get in, it would be nothing but horses.

Was walking along the RiverWalk tonight and was surprised to find that the Simmons Building was absolutely packed with people. There was a person out smoking and we started talking with them. They told us that the event was part of the AAA/RAIC Festival of Architecture that's going on in Calgary right now and that the building had just received its occupancy permit the day before. When this person went back inside we were able to get a good look at the space and it appeared like it was mainly complete (and I must say the interior space looks fantastic!!) According to the latest edition of the EVE Magazine, the Simmons building is supposed to open at some point in June. Based on what I saw tonight, I think that's probably pretty accurate and I wouldn't be surprised if Charbar opens by the end of the month. Excited to have my first drink on the rooftop patio of the Simmons!!

The lot on the NE corner of 7ave and 4st SE is fenced off with an excavator in it. Any word on what's going on there?

What's going on with that automated washroom? Just curious as a taxpayer. What did that thing cost us again? How long has it been since it was installed, and how long since it was shut down?

I believe that they removed the loungers temporarily, and once the population rises in EV, they will reinstall them... no waste there except for some city employees unscrewing them and putting them in storage.

Although, I am picturing hookers setting up shop right on the loungers, calling over pedestrians and cyclists to misuse taxpayer-funded chairs for a $5 quickie. Is that the same image you have in your head?
