Thanks for the pics officedweller! I Haven't taken a close look at the building since the project started. Those dirty aggregate panels actually look like they cover the second floor of the building completely, maybe the second floor is just a service level, would be nice if they extended the upper facade down over the second mystery floor, I'm thinking of something similar to the podium level of the 1957 BC hydro building on Burrard where the bottom edge of the facade extends down past the floor plate. Adding a touch of visual interest.
The upper facade still looks crisp and clean, the proportions of the 50 year old spandrel are excellent. What is the original name of the 60's mid bĺock building?

Thanks for the pics - haven't seen the multi-coloured display yet.

*******

The building on the corner that was sold to Avigilon was the William Farrell Building - not sure if the middle one was also that name too.
Hopefully they retain the original curtain wall - the stainless steel or aluminum is much nicer than what they'd use today.

I thought I saw that the Seymour side would get retail frontage in the older building (?).

Note that the recent application by Westbank allows office uses at grade on both Richards and Seymour.

The rooftop addition to the older building is visible now from street level. First two pics from Richards Street and the last one is from Seymour.

That stretch of street is dead between Robson and West Georgia. I really hope the new office tower replacing that parkade next door would bring more foot traffic there. This old Telus buildings fails completey to do anything to the streetscape.

I cannot believe this tower is only going to be 135 meters. It looks ridiculously tall already from street level. As part of skyline it is not that prominent yet, but there are just under 10 more floors to go, I think.

With the original colors this could be a masterpiece, but now it is only going to be a landmark due to its height.

Here's a comparison shot from about 5 months ago. Imagine that gap being filled eventually with the towers that might go on the Budget Car Rental and Bay Parkade sites on Georgia.

The glass on that arch seems to be slow to install. Not much progress in a day, not to mention a week.

Thanks for the photos. It's certainly turning out well, in my opinion.

Thanks!
I guess that all of the ribs.
I walked past the other day and the leafy pattern on the glass is quite noticeable on the sections above the plaza.

Pic by me today - retail glass installed on Richards.
Note the dark brown grille (which matches nothing) above the glass:

Here's a peek behind the fence at that new glass at ground level on Richards.

I think we can now see the glass panels that will provide light to the space below the plaza.

That said it would be cool if they changed out the green panels and refurbished the original facade... and possibly an additional new skinny tower, located where the oldest building that got a new facade a few years back is.. and just maybe with functioning LED lighting. That newer facade on the former brick really looks like they built some kinda bird cage on an existing building. I was never a fan.
