For the first time in a very long time today I walked from the Dunsmuir viaduct to the Georgia viaduct on the elevated walkway on the west side of Rogers Arena.

Very nice! Without the viaducts, the urban landscape of this area would be very generic, hecka boring. Love the layered structures of walkways/roads at the moment. Sure hope this place is always maintained nice and clean.

I just noticed yesterday that there are little lights embedded in the new sidewalk.

Yes, all this looks good, joining up with, and integrating to a degree, the Viaducts themselves. () ... gonna make it all the more difficult for the Viaduct Haters to rip them out !! (hehe)

Looks like the surface texture will help the visually impaired avoid wandering out into the area where the vehicles will be coming and going.

And the underside, the true ground level in the second pic. I wonder if that's a gym upstairs from the service lobby entrance.

Here's an update on the south tower construction. Not far to go and it will be at ground level.

Yes, all three of the currently approved towers, including the two that are actively under construction, are rental for their residential components. A fourth tower is notionally planned for the Rogers Arena site and it would straddle the SkyTrain guideway just before it crosses Expo Blvd. That's far and away the most complex of the four towers and it has not been officially proposed. I think the City has an expectation that it would incorporate an elevated pedestrian extension of Stadium-Chinatown station to help simplify pedestrian flows across Expo Blvd to access the station. That will be a complicated project, so I can see Aquilini keeping it on the back burner for the foreseeable future, plus ~1,000 rental units (if I recall correctly) in the three towers need to be absorbed by the market to start bringing in revenue to repay their investment and I can see them wanting to clear some of their balance sheet before proceeding with a forth. Incidentally, does anyone know if there is a view cone height limit for the Rogers Arena site?

I would think the market is happy and quick to absorb 1000 new rental units in Downtown. I hope the fourth tower would be a crown to the whole area. All the current towers are appreximately the same height and nothing sticks out (besides BC Place).

Wow, did I count 18 units on one floor? They better have at least 3 fast and reliable elevators...

I counted 16. But still you would have to think they did 3 elevators

It looks like there are 3 elevators - 2 on one side and 1 on the other? That's weird.

I suppose an innovative way to work within a dicey floorplate. Three elevators side-by-side would have cut too much across the small plate. They will certainly need every possible elevator, though, with so many units per floor.

Looks like they dug up the older sidewalk at the Georgia viaduct level just outside gate 8 of the arena.
