All valid criticisms. It looks unfinished because, well, it is. It will never have the size of Commonwealth. But it will easily compete in just about every other area (and surpass it is some) when the expansion and canopies are complete next year.

I guess if Toronto hadn't sold its main stadium for pennies on the dollar to a robber baron who is now in the process making it unusable for two of the sports it was designed for (football and soccer), they could have put a few games in there. But now the only option in that city is the second-rate Beamo.

Let's face it, when your self-styled "national stadium" is about on the same level as Botswana's, you don't show it off to the guests.

It will never compete with, let alone surpass, Commonwealth, BC Place, IGF, a renovated Olympic Stadium, or the future Mosaic Stadium in national flagship stadium appearance.

Just lacking size alone precludes it from ever having a national flagship appearance. Moreover, none of the renovation plans include filling in the open holes in the corners with seating, which currently look out to parking lots. When finished, it will be a fine MLS/CFL stadium (albeit with open corners), but never a national flagship stadium that the world would expect to see host an opening or closing World Cup match.

I never liked stadiums that have been assembled haphazardly together.
A uniformly built stadium always looks better.

I actually like the english style stadiums that are built in different pieces. Makes it unique.

Thats just a ridiculous comparison. Bmo field may not be 50 000 seats. But a 30 000 seat stadium with tons of luxury clubs and suites, hd scoreboard and sound system cant be compred to botswana.

Like FIFA's choice of BC Place as the flagship stadium for the championship game, Fox Sports (which holds the exclusive American broadcasting rights for the World Cup) definitely chose the right city to create their flagship broadcast studio:

What is the building that FOX Sports is broadcasting from? Is that left over from the Olympics, or purpose-built for the WWC?

Commissioned specifically for the 2015 World Cup by Fox Sports, it has been completely purpose built over the last few weeks. Built in the heart of a popular public square (Jack Poole Plaza) on Vancouver's scenic waterfront, Fox Sports is apparently spending much more on this broadcast studio than they do during the Super Bowl.

Pinnacle Lounge is located on the east side of the stadium and can be accessed from the main concourse. The entrance is too far from the field to actually see anything. All the windows overlook University Cres.

Is it temporary? The finished product looks permanent but the construction just looks like scaffolding. I wonder what happens to it after the games? restaurant?

have they ever done a great job on commonwealth it looks great on tv. 52,000+ today. To me this is a lesson for Both the eskimos and city of Edmonton how much potential CWS has with a little bit of investment

Commonwealth Stadium looked great and the crowd and the weather looked fantastic, very happy with the coverage...heard something like 1 billion people expected to watch this Women's World Cup! Great exposure for the cities involved, and that Vancouver TV set...wowww!!!
