Also, are there still plans to put in better scrubbers into the Purina plant so that it doesn't smell as bad?

If Elitches goes, reserve some land next to the CML so you can someday use the CML for a true through station since Union Station can't. Next to Pepsi Center/Elitch Gardens light rail station.

Heh, thanks for the great info, much appreciated.

Given what you said about Kroenke trying previously to buy that land I wouldn't be surprised if he is the Elitch buyer. If so, he may not be in any hurry to develop as he would seem to have a full plate with his LA venture if it indeed comes to fruition which it appears will happen.

The plan would:

-Extend both the 1.75% lodging the the same rental car fee that is set to expire in 2023 and originally paid for the convention center expansion.
-Raise $476M for the NWSS re-do
-Raise $105M to expand the convention center

In addition, Denver plans to raise another $200M from land sales, federal grants, onsite inc. etc. and $117M from an RTA grant. CSU is chipping in $250M and the Stock Show is putting up $50M. So the $1B figure for the project has been somewhat fleshed out.
I swear, the cost to do anything nowadays is pure insanity.

Srsly though, that would pay for a whole lotta steak dinners. I hope those prize bulls are worth it.

Thanks!
Hey Cirrus or another mod. Can you move this question to the transportation thread? I never should've posted it here.

I noticed the Purina building got some new paint the other day because the Purina logo was gone, painted over. Maybe they were doing all at the same time?

I thought that the scrubbers were installed when Purina did the facility expansion a few years ago. It certainly doesn't smell as much as it once did.

No problem!

I agree with you, the stadium alone in the L.A. project is 1/6 of his fortune. Can't imagine he has enough liquidity to build both simultaneously. And judging by his past projects, he doesn't seem to want to work with outside investors, he likes to keep the whole pie for himself.

Hancock finally gets his Airport City pet project, yay for him...

Quote:
Deal reached to clear the way for DIA business development

Officials of Adams County and cities near Denver International Airport have agreed to a deal that would allow Denver to proceed with plans to develop non-aviation businesses on the airport grounds.
....
The agreement covers about 1,500 acres of airport land that's available for development out of DIA's total 9,400 acres.
....
The pilot program allows uses such as retail, office parks, warehouses, and manufacturing on the 1,500 acres — “even if they are not directly related to airport operations or aviation,” according to a statement issued after Wednesday's vote.

Adams County and Denver will “evenly split” tax revenues generated from the commercial uses on the 1,500 acres. The ACC members have created a formula to divvy up their portion of the revenues.

Denver also will provide an upfront payment of $10 million to the other jurisdictions. And DIA will retain all the lease revenue from the new commercial businesses.

The 1,500 acres can be expanded if the coordinating council agrees.

Good job for the leaders in Denver and Adams County. It would have been idiotic to block development at DIA, the most desirable land for this type of a development. It was bad for the region. But that's what Denver agreed back when, so this is a good a solution - give the Adams County folks a piece of the action while also creating a knock on effect for adjacent areas in Adams County. Metro Denver's admirable history of local governments working together to find win win solutions continues.

Our luck they'll try to skate by with the whole shovel being wooden. Oops, ground breaking deemed unsuccessful.

I wonder how cooperative Denver would have been if not for the fact that Adams County had them by the short hairs. Understandably Denver's motivation and Adams County's leverage resulted in the original, unique agreement.

But I do agree it was good they reached a mutually beneficial agreement.
Aerotropolis, here we come.

Denver is not the only significant city/airport that wants to stimulate nearby development. Atlanta also.

comoneymaker... Cool looking rendering and interesting news about Dish/T-Mobile.
