As for the love-hate relationship with Air Canada. I put Air Canada (and WestJet) on part with the European airlines. Not as good as most of the Asian airlines but better that the US airlines.

Perhaps because Canjet is downsizing?

I've no idea. Our provincial public college has a campus in Doha. It's a common enough place to work that I've two friends there right now. But I can't imagine it's enough traffic to justify this.

The ad says you have to be willing to relocate to Qatar, so it doesn't strike me that it has anything to do with Qatar actually operating to NL. That would be quite the coup if it did, though!

I'd doubt that too... but I just don't understand why they would come here?

Even if the desire is for westerners who speak English... could you pick a worse place?

Direct competition to Alaska/Horizon Q400 service. Interesting.

So it seems. That's quite a lot of capacity to be added. They seemed to be slowing down on the expansion path at SEA but recently picking up again.
But they are also pulling back on some of the recent expansion. Looks like YYC is reducing to 2-3 flights per day over the winter and YVR back to 4.

Announcement coming for YUL this week, probably concerning the officialization of the YUL-PEK route via Air China. Might also be for Icelandair, who knows...

Also, Skygreece Airlines had their inaugural flight this week at YUL for their summer seasonal. No water salute because it was too windy...

The YYC-SEA flights with DL are great - I've taken them a few times. Not sure why they would downgrade in the Winter. The first time I went I flew first class (they had a sweet deal on the price and I was planning some major shopping). I know the capacities have been pretty good - maybe not as good as I'm hearing. Judging by the schedule in November my mid-day flight is gone on Friday's which makes it not so convenient for me to slip away but we will see. I know the summer schedule is great, I'm heading to SEA in July!

I was wondering when DL would add YYJ though - I figured it was only a matter of time. They have been building up their hub at SEA for a while - I suspect that Alaska hadn't been building up the capacity nearly as much as they felt was there. Plus (IMO) - the Q400's are horrible planes. I'd rather a DL CRJ700 versus a Q400 anyday!

Beautiful airport for YQB!!! Furthermore, there's room to expand - if need be.

YEG's new 500,000sqft 100 store 'mall' is underway it seems, opening 2017.

International (non-US) up by 5.9% to 1,942,402, compared to 1,833,338 last year.

Good year in YUL so far. I'll contribute to the increase a couple of times over the next few months.

YQB's transformation and expansion since 2006 is simply amazing. Once this upgrade is done, the airport will be fantastic. Hopefully the US customs pre-clearance will be a go this year.
