And here's how Renfrew Centre is looking today. A quick shot that I took from the Skytrain as it was coming into Renfrew Station (going west).

Wow! Thanks for the photo. I haven't been by there in a while and it's great to see that it's almost topped out. This is a nice addition to that office node area.

Articles on shipping container homes:

Didn't realize it was built so long ago:

Workers guide a recycled shipping container onto a lot where Canada's first multi-home recycled shipping container housing project
is being constructed in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, B.C., on Friday November 30, 2012.

I don't think I saw this posted anywhere. My bad, if it was.

Boffo held an open house for their planned development at Commercial & Venables. I don't mind a thin tower here (12 storeys, no more), but I think the 7 storeys fronting Venables might be a bit much, even if it's set back.

I like this one. Unfortunately this is in Nimby central. Wonder what kind of flaks Boffo will be getting. There aren't any serious developments around here for decades.

Nice, thanks!

I like the curvey look of this "top heavy" building better than 745 Thurlow.

I think that's because the light industrial area around there is being up-zoned generally.
There are several other projects in the area that are 6 storeys or taller.

Demoliton is about complete now of the little building that was on the corner of Cambie and W. 7th Ave, kitty corner from Canadian Tire. It was the Cambie Cafe Chinese and Western Food, next door to Menchie's. Big row of trees taken down, too. Google street view here.

Your dislike of those trees is hilarious. Who in the world likes to see trees cut down.

Another blank wall to add to this already blank looking section of Cambie Street. The density is there to make a good neighbourhood, but the colourful storefronts are non-existent.

I'm not sure there are any blank walls on the new building going up, so I'm not sure what you are referring to. And I love trees. I just don't think they need to be crammed in everywhere

Jokes aside, more trees need to be planted for those we take down.
