Yikes, we have one honest question and get two vacuous replies. This forum can do better than this I hope.

Wowser... there's a clear downside to all this upside. Kinda sad IMO.

Oh, good. That sounds completely appropriate to me. Why did we think there was none? (Because we are lazy!)

That sunrise skyline photo is awesome, Lumos! Colorado has some incredible sunrises. I remember being woken up by blazing sunrises since my bedroom windows faced east. The rec. center at Colfax and Josephine is a terrific use for that site. Easily accessible, next to East HS, and next to City Park. I bet that place is slammed with people from the start. I can't wait to see how Lumina turned out over in Lower Highland. I saw the articles about the Pagliacci neon being re-installed, but inside the building, I am glad they saved the neon signs, but I am disappointed that only building tenants/guests can now see them. I liked the design of the building from the renderings.

Nah. It's more of a community thing. I'm sure at one point lumos and I are going to collaborate and it's just going to be ridiculous eye candy all over the place.

Complacent? Hmmm. Distracted? You bet. Photo projects, woman, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc! Greatest distractions!

That's the nicest thing I've heard in a long time. Thank you. I, too, am really just recording events. If art comes out of it, bonus!

Union Tower West has always been a bit of a weird project to me. Here's a little bit of a better rendering of what's going on at the base, courtsey of Colorado Construction and Design:

Who is the moron who wrote that caption? If that person gets paid to write, they should be fired. "A rendering...in which millennials grudgingly share space with generation x-ers and young at heart baby boomers." Really?

Especially when you consider that John Portman also has the Embarcadero Center and the Shanghai Centre in their portfolio.

Base treatment looks good.

We are obviously having generation and class warfare here in Denver... Times are rough.

I was about to say the same thing. That's the most idiotic "journalism" I've read in a long time.

They seriously have to do something with the steam plant next door to the Union Tower West building now. They could hide it with a high wall, or do something cool like build a mostly glass structure around it so the public could get a glimpse of what the plant looks like. They could have some interpretative signs about it, etc.

Why are all of the renderings for Union Tower West so hard to read? They all have like ghost walls and overdone reflections. Are they trying to disguise how mundane the building is? I do like the arbor over the plaza, though. It reminds me of Miami and of some Mid-century Modern buildings I have seen.

I wouldn't exactly call it a "tower" either.

Why? It looks fine. Not everything needs to be sanitized in a city.

Nice catch; this is good.

I recall someone who worked with Zeppelin mentioning this was in the works awhile back. They had mentioned a "lifestyle" hotel along the lines of a Portland chain whose name escapes me. They've wisely spread he risk but I think it can do well.
