It looks much better with the paint removed exposing the very Toronto red brick underneath. As for the older building in the front I'm just glad they are saving it as it looked to be a state of disrepair.

The usage is debatable but, the suggestion of the structure is quite baffling. An odd colour and poorly conceived renovations in the past that have fallen into disrepair is pretty common for Toronto.

Great look but, I could never buy another townhouse with a rooftop deck. These look like stacked units but, even so, there's an impracticality to entertaining on a rooftop a few floors above the main living area. Worse is the design with the brick parapets. Drainage is provide by a few scuppers that easily freeze solid in Toronto's lake effect climate. End result is a lake come spring or after a brief thaw that can easily rise above the door's threshold. My only option in preventing this was running heating cables. Easy to do but, doesn't feel right.

I see the design flaw you speak of for drainage. It just needs a small wet bar access near the roof to mitigate the distance to the kitchen.

True but, in my case which was actaully several floors in between and here is no additional space for a wetbar. These are homes for the middle class that want to live beside the wealthy.

A pity that it's in the wrong place. Churches ought to find other revenue streams. Or maybe just build luxury townhomes?

5 Years from now, Yonge and Eglinton is gonna be crazy. It's almost too much. The towers are huge here, almost as big as downtown, and now it just about numbers... The Crosstown Line will just make things even more wacky!

The Cathedral will still have the same fronted presence and courtyard on James Street North as it has now. The rear never met up with Hughson properly and didn't really look that good anyway. This is actually a pretty good intensification project.

The horror of all those poors moving into their half million dollar town homes. How will this poor kept woman ever get along with all those people who actually have jobs?

Agreed, even if "terribly bad" is a little over the top. Those are good, ambitious architectural firms, so let's hope for the best.
