Is it just me or does the pace of this build seem to be very very slow? Im sure there is some added complications with straddling the LRT line and the small proximity of an awkwardly shaped site in a highly congested location; but I'm curious to know what it ACTUALLY is that is slowing it down.
Also, does anyone know which trade companies got hired on to do this building? (IE/ the sparkys, envelope, plumbers, concrete, ironworkers, glazers ect.) And if not, does anyone know where i should look to find this out?

All they are doing this year is the cover over the LRT track, they can't start the building construction until that is done, for safety reasons.
I walked by the site this afternoon and this second crane was actually being used to work on the Hilton Hotel site. I was actually surprised as I didn't think that the hotel required a second crane. Looks like we'll have to wait a little longer for the official library crane.

A good chunk of the work has to be done on long weekends or weekends where much isn't happening in terms of events, sports or otherwise. Crews have 3-5 days per month to get a good chunk of the prep work required to make the encapsulation possible. This includes things like rerouting kms of traction power positive, negative and signal cables and ensuring everything after each and every stage is properly operational by Monday rush.
And no, this cannot be done at night. Switching, potential testing grounding and issuing a guarantee of isolation (obtaining and returning) burns up three of the four hours trains are not running nightly during the week.
Not to be terse, but this is as far as I'll go explaining as to what goes on, which is really just one work package of a pretty big project. Cheers.

Next year. Contractor is Stuart Olsen IIRC, tunnel encapsulation is Armtec I think.
