Here's the new look for the Spadina Hotel at King & Spadina--currently being renovated for a mixed use development by Allied REIT:

I rather like it--it's likely based on historical documentation of the site.

Here's the QRC Phase 2:

Here's part of their upcoming restoration on King West with mixed use being built on parking lots with the help of Westbank & perhaps Diamondcorp?

Screenshots from Allied Properties 2014 AGM.

================

And here's updated--c.January 2015--renderings of Knightstone Capital's Helendale project by DSAI.

Love the new direction Toronto's best architects are taking us!

First building to be released on the Québec side of Zibi, the redevelopment of the Ottawa-Hull industrial islands. it will be the first "One Planet" community in Canada and the tenth in the world.

On a lesser note, new Holiday Inn on the eastern edge of downtown where blandness continues to prevail.

Why do they have so many renders of a pile of crap? It's not even residential so why bother? It's not like they need it for sales, maybe they'll use them on priceline.

The eastern shoulder of downtown Ottawa always get the bland projects... yet that area has arguably Ottawa's best urban neighbourhoods.

HR render of La Maison de la danse, under construction in the Quartier des spectacles. This complex will house all the major dance companies of Montreal in including Les Grand Ballets Canadiens.

Bleury street facade.

The 11-stories multi angle facades on the Place des Festivals will be giant screens with visual art presentations.

And of course, the parking lot just north of the complex will disappear soon to make way for the NFB headquarters, closing up the western build wall of the Place des Festivals.

This looks like the final design for the Le Drummond, on Drummond street near Sainte-Catherine and the Bell Center. The two towers are aligned with the street wall, with no protuberant balconies. Commercial use on the ground floor. In brief, nice fillers and one less surface parking lot.

Ground breaking in september.

Yeahhhh right... These towers have been on sale for two years and have yet to reach 40% for one tower, I really doubt this will happen.

This 80 unit townhouse project in Midtown Toronto is causing a bit of a fuss with the neighbours

“We’re not against development,” adds Marcia Visser, founder of the Density Creep Neighborhood Alliance, who is concerned about privacy, traffic and an influx of transient people.
No no Marcia - of course you aren't

“I’m really concerned about my property value going down,” says Lisa Goodwin, 49, a stay-at-home mother of two who has lived in a four-bedroom dwelling on Keewatin Ave. for 19 years.

“Right now all the houses are $1.1 to, say, $2.2 (million) but they’re looking at putting in places that are only $500,000.”

Well, to be fair, you can't be too careful about transients moving into new half-million dollar townhouses. I don't think I could even list all the ways in which townhouse dwellers plot to invade the privacy of nearby SFH owners.

Not a fan of that Spadina Hotel render, GVB was a lot better.

It needed a coat of paint but it looked a lot less generic. Gave more character to the area.
