Nice that they spared some historic homes with character in that block - that's going to blend in really swell....

Why does it look like the Claridge Icon??
It's like déjà vu... I remember thinking the Claridge Icon seemed like a rip-off of the Soho Italia design....which was thought to be a rip-off of that wavy Aqua building in Chicago.

I'm happy to see buildings other than plain boxes, but where is the originality??

I was in the Vieux-Hull last night. Brigil had a big VIP ''do'' to open their presentation centre across from the museum (former gas station and MRI clinic).

I noticed that too.

Oh well, I'm happy to see height, but some unique designs would be nice

—, that looks pretty great. The birds eye view showing the continuity between the Museum of Civilization and the Brigil Towers looks awesome. I also like that there is a top floor restaurant and observation floor (assuming these will be public access). If only they added some 'zazz' to the towers.

I think they've done a good job maintaining the flowy-ness of the Museum of Civ, so despite the loss of a few little buildings, it's great!

The observatory would be a great new attraction for the area, I think it would do exceedingly well with that view.

As a former Gatineau resident, I'm happy to see this project go forward. If you think Ottawa's downtown is dead after office hours, stroll through the island of Hull... or better yet, don't!

I think this looks sufficiently different and far enough away from Icon that nobody can reasonably complain about this establishing any kind of a monoculture à la Claridge Plaza I, II, III, IV, etc.

With any luck, this will be a nice addition to the skyline and a neighbourhood that is badly in need of some intensification.

The district counselor Denise Lafrenière is all for the project. The mayor Maxime is not overwelmed with it.....he says that we will have to live with the decision 75 years from now!

IMO - It would be great for the area.

Yes...because in 75 years there won't be ANY other towers of the same height near this one...it will stand out like a sore thumb and people will say 'what were they thinking??' Rigggggght.

Project is called Renaissance (55 floors) Alliance (35 floors) and the pedestrian park is place des peuples. They have info on their website, brigil.com including this shot. Personally I really hope they build it.

It would be cool if this project ACTUALLY got built with wavy balconies unlike certain other projects in the area. If they build this like the renders it might inspire Ottawa to get it's — together and start building things more interesting than the regular Claridge garbage.

If they build this, they better not go cheap. This will be visible in many postcard photos.
