I'm interested to see how things turn out for east village. I presume Olympic Village is a bit of what they're aiming for there, but there are some things East Village could easily do better.

It would be nicer if the art piece was more functional, given its location in the park. Something people could go on, or play on, sit on, I dunno, rather than just an excuse to smack some light poles together and call it art.

My feeling was similar...I like the piece of art on it's own, but the parking setting makes me wish it was something that was a little more interactive. This is sculpture you look at, not necessarily something you engage with.

Glad that it's' not another rodeo/horse/cowboy/bull theme though.

What parking setting? I thought it is in the park - no?

Fully with you two. Art is about conversation. I like that this one is a very large format, and that it adds to the art diversity and city-scape along the river.

Walked by here this afternoon. All of the trees have already been removed (just a whole lot of branches covering the grass) and they were working on removing a bunch of the old concrete pillars for the chain railing that ran along the one side of the space. Looks like they're not wasting any time on getting started with this space! Sad to see the trees go though.

They are typical of any urban context, actually.

Agree that good lighting is not conducive to prostitution, drug trafficking and drug using, but I thought that was the intent of the St Patrick Island project - to push some of that BS out, no?

Do we know when N3 is expected to start? They had approval from Council last week. Apparently build time is only 12 or so months for a 19 storey tower, one more benefit of not building an expensive, deep parking garage.

Will probably be quite a while. I'm not very familiar with the project, but sign off from council is usually one of the last steps in a DP approval, they will probably need to go through the whole Building Permit process still.

The DP was processed concurrently, so that could be at CPC within weeks. I think this will sell out immediately and break ground by fall.
