Man...this building might not be good for someone like me...who had many "bad" nights at Oilcans in the 90s... Talk about a dizziness, unspoken... "Bad was good, back then..."

Looks like it's 687'6" tall...officially. So, a bit taller than advertised.

And my assumption was correct - this building does not "jengafy" on the east and west façades. Only on the north and south facing façades does this building look like a stack of blocks. How weak! This tower is further than I thought from a true, world-class design.

Ya know...I don't know what all the fuss is about with this builiding.
it's just a trend in architecture.... and we ,unfortunately, got the conservative version.
I'm very glad we have something breaking the "box" mold in this manner.
Wish it would have been more brave.

I know folks have posted other versions.....

I don't think even the Austonian has a damper. That's interesting that it does. I wonder if that has anything to do with the offset nature of the building's design.

I remember an article talking about how the Austonian was going to have a damper tank and how it worked to cut down on sway. I don't think any of our other buildings have one though.

Ah, I'd forgotten I guess. I didn't see it listed as a fact either on any of the building pages for it. That would explain why both have large mechanical crowns.

I'm just guessing here... but I would say no. The buiding is just an optical illusion. Like having balconies switch sides.... with a cantilever level in the middle.
If you look at the floor plates, 80-90 % of the plates/plans are in line.
( compare where the elevatiors line up... .and look at how the apartments shift
around them)

But again... it's a guess.

If they're gonna make a nice digital rendering in the way that they did (it constructs itself over time, rather than just being "put" into the frame), I don't understand why they couldn't also remove the cranes and put in finished versions of Northshore, the Library, and Seaholm. It'd look much more polished that way.

Austin is still the weirdest major city in Texas, though certainly not as weird as it used to be. But the building's design is definitely the same as the ones rising in New Jersey. The only real difference is that there's one instead of three. Nevertheless, it will add a nice peak to the skyline.

The first one of the three is currently rising in New Jersey and the columns are straight all the way to the top, as they seem to be on this one. The floors are offset using cantilevers. So I think the only reason for the damper would be its height.
