True enough. However, the land upon which Skydome sits is not owned by Rogers, so it's not much of an asset unfortunately i.e. That's one of the reasons why the purchase price was so low.

BMO field really looks great. Can't wait for the new roof and lighting/sound systems put in. Really elevates BMO as a stadium.

How much longer is it gonna take to finish up that Stadium? Looks like it will be the finest football only stadium in the CFL! There is no doubt about that....

Not necessarily. On the west side there are 2 underground levels (none in East side) & they've just started working above grade. With the nicer weather now the west side will catch up to the east quite quickly.

So apparently, they are already beginning the work for the foundations for the new roof at BMO Field. And it appears that they will raise the roof in once piece, (maybe section, for the 3 sides??) anyways that will be quite the site when it does happen.. The new Roof at BMO Field should be in place by April of next year, with the main work happening around October/November of this year in regards to construction.

Nice shot of BMO. Hopefully once construction is wrapped up for this summer they'll cover up that exposed concrete on the face of the suites and upper level. It was also interesting to see that they got rid of the field size BMO tables and replaced them with just leather chairs.

Also nice shot of new Mosaic, I see what you mean about working on the underground portion of the opposite grandstand.

What would make it look much better and feel more intimate is if it were closed off on the ends/corners. Although only holding 22,000, Houston's stadium is fully enclosed and provides are better atmosphere because of it.

They say it'll [Mosaic II] will be "completed" during the summer of '16. ( . . and will do test events.)

The first CFL season will be in '17.

The roof will enclose a lot of the open spaces/gaps/corners, except the north end, which will need to remain open until they figure out the configuration for the CFL Team. The retractable stands, and a roof on the North end will complete the enclosure.

BMO does look better now and it'll improve when the roof is added, but on the whole it's still a bit underwhelming considering that it's a venue for two of Toronto's major pro teams as well as basically the home base for Canada's national soccer teams. Even by MLS and CFL standards it doesn't stand out among its contemporaries... it runs more to the Tim Hortons Field/Dick's Sporting Goods Field end of the spectrum as compared to showstoppers like BBVA Compass or New Mosaic Stadium.

Considering Toronto's wealth and population it's surprising they couldn't pull something a bit better off.

I think bmo stacks up pretty well for the renos. Once complete it will be one of the best MLS stadiums. And it will be the best cfl stadium in the east. Having been to both thf and bmo this year, bmo is much better.

Tough to build a stadium with tons of frills given the feds unwillingness to spend on stadiums, ontarios economic problems, and how the whole skydome saga unfolded after substantial political dollars. Not to mention toronto is more focused on imrproving its poor public transportation network and other city infrastructure, not spend on stadiums. The city isnt really that rich. The stadium is already getting over 100 mil of private dollars which is a lot for canada.

Lets not forget, this isnt the states where billion dollar stadiums are the norm. And stadiums like bbva compass can use extremely cheap non unionized labour. IMO bmo's roof will be much more impressive than anything houston has. Also i like the different stands, symmetry is a tad overdone in north america. Boring imo.
