I went to the Winners today. It is very modern and quite fancy for a Winners, but also very small...the smallest in the city I'd wager. The Structube on the other hand is quite large and had a great selection.
When I walked pass by Structube at Lansdowne park yesterday at 10:30 a.m, I know that there was furniture inside. However, it did not look opened to me. It looked rather dark and quiet. Is this shop actually opened? I went to Winners once last fall and it does look small, as compared to the one in South Keys. Maybe, the rent in Lansdowne is higher than it is in the outskirts of Ottawa. The PetSmart at Lansdowne park is much smaller than the one on Innes Road, Kanata, and Orleans. The PetSmart in Orleans, Innes Road, and Kanata are about the size of Canadian tire. The PetSmart at Lansdowne have no cats to buy in the shop and no place to board dogs. They sell food, toys, treats, carriers , leashes, litter boxes, catnip, and litter boxes. They have a place to groom dogs and sell tanks of fish. I go to PetSmart to buy treats for my two cats. You have to go to Pet Smart in the suburbs of Ottawa to buy a cat. All the cats come from the Humaine Society.
I got confirmation that Rexall is no longer opening in the prime location at entrance to Lansdowne. For some reason they must have concluded that Bank Street doesn't need a drug store every 2 blocks.
The good news is that apparently there will be some type of microbrewery taking the space. The person that I spoke to didn't have much in the way of detail, but if correct, that will be a much better use of that corner.

Yeah, any of the above would be outstanding. I got the impression that it was more of a corporate entity behind this plan, but details were sketchy. I won't hold my breath until something is confirmed.

Agreed on all points, but what we really should be hoping for is something like Central Bierhaus, as I think that would be perfect given the sports venue.

It doesn't even need to be a restaurant I don't think. Something like Garrison Brewery in Halifax would be perfect- it's just a store to buy their stuff, but there is also a bar where you can order $2 samples.
I went to have supper at Lansdowne last night to try out Joey’s and was surprised that only Milestone had it patio open, we were lucky and got a table on the patio. We had a nice view of the Aberdeen Pavilion, was still a bit quiet but I can image when all the other restaurants and patio open up, especially during a game, there will be a nice vibe.
After we finished our meal, I requested to validate our parking and I was told that they did not validate parking, only Cineplex validated, none of the other restaurants validates. I was a bit disappointed since I had to pay an extra $7.50. There was on street parking available but you had to pay at all times (24hours) and only for 1 hour. The rest of the city, parking is free after 6pm.
For some reason, I taught that the restaurants would validate, I know that Whole Foods and Cineplex does, are there any other places? The whole place was not busy, Milestone inside was empty with the exception of the patio. Once the other restaurants open their patio, there will be competition, not sure how they are going to get people to come during non-game days if you have to pay for parking. It wasn’t busy yesterday which was an ideal day to go out, just my 2 cents.

You can always grab a bottle of wine at the LCBO and save yourself 45 minutes of paid parking, or pick up something at Whole Foods and get 1 1/2 hours.
The market is packed in the evenings even though finding free parking after 6pm is a challenge. Yes, there's free spots but you often have to circle around for a while to get one.
I live at Laurier/Friel. When my suburban friends from Kanata come visit me, we typically go out to the market for supper. The first few times they insisted on driving there (even though it's a 15 minute walk ).. now they don't bother as they realized just how much circling you have to do.

In my opinion, I think that it is best that they decided not to put the Rexall there after all. There are many pharmacies within a close distance, perhaps too many. There is already a Shoppers Drug Mart on Bank between 1st Avenue and Glebe Avenue and another Shoppers Drug Mart close to the Mayfair theatre. I know that everyone needs a pharmacy, but not within a few blocks apart. I do not think that they should include another restaurant, because there are enough restaurants in Lansdowne park. With all these restaurants around competing, one of them could go bust. I think that you are right phil235, a microbrewery should go there, whatever that is.
In my opinion, one should really walk, take the bus, or go by shuttle to Lansdowne park. Even if parking can be free, it is still a nuisance having to find space for parking and having to park underneath the garage. I always walk by foot to Lansdowne park.

To me, there are enough restaurants at Lansdowne park and a few down Bank Street. Why don't they put something else there? When there is a lot of competition with restaurants close together, one is eventually going to close down. I know that they are putting a dentist close to PetSmart. However, won't the rent be too expensive for a dental office.
