You make some very good points Kevin. I would guess also that it would be very expensive to build skyscrapers with elaborate ornate crowns and finishes today compared to that era. I see some newer highrises with classic features. Even Frost gives a nod to art deco but in general you don't see many buildings built like that the's days. I'd love to see a gleaming tower with elements of the Chrysler Building or a similar tower from that period in Austin... as an 800 footer.

Basically a puff piece, which is fine; there's a place for that. Pretty much calls "regular" buildings (and the people who prefer them) boring. Also says new renderings are being worked on and that the small details of the building will be important.

Tech House posted a link to that article yesterday before it went behind the paywall. To get an idea of some of the things that were mentioned, you can read wwmiv's comments which mention some of the design elements.

You beat me to it...this was placed advertisement for the tower. Expect to see more in the coming months.

They are trying to focus more on the design rather than it's height (only 2' taller than the Austonian, structurally - and 8' shorter than the Austonian as measured from MSL).

Don't you think if this is true that they would have forced the Journal to make a correction regarding their article? From a marketing perspective, I would have! I would not want anything to pop up which could hurt potential sales.

If they have full financing, we would know. At this point, I don't think their is anything formal. At best, the Independent may have a simple term sheet in hand.
