We're going to look like such a joke. And I refuse to call it a 'stadium' anymore. It's not a stadium by today's standards, Tim Hortons was right to call it a 'field'.

With regards to the train not dropping you off at the Stadium. There isn't much that could have been done to remedy that situaiton. They weren't going to run tracks right to THF and build a station. And building the stadium near the James St go station was killed a long time ago.

Not sure what else they could have done? I don't think its unreasonable to take a train and then a short 10 minute bus ride to the game, you're right though some ppl may not like that. But in the end most people will probably be driving to Hamilton and not taking the train.

Also I know there will be a large parking lot at the old Dominion Glass property behind Freshco. They're holding off on remediation and constructing the soccer field until after the Pan Ams to allow for parking.

I don't see the issue with it? I'd much rather have our tax dollar spent on crumbling roads and infastructure and healthcare than build a $500 million stadium to be used by a pro team 10 times a year. BMO field and isn't anything better than THF and thats what Toronto will use as its main outdoor venue. Not to mention York stadium has one of the biggest events in track and field and more than half of the stadium is temporary stands and port a poties(not to mention a capacity of 12 500 is ridiculously small for track and field). That's more embarassing than THF IMO.

I'm happy we aren't like the States sinking Billions of dollars into pro stadium for private owners.

It may be a little plain, but for Hamilton's purpose it's "good enough". And if needed, an upgrade to it can easily be done down the road. My only issue is the location - which could've better tied into public transit/GO train service. But that's a tired discussion left for a different thread.

I disagree with this: BMO Field is a great soccer venue, and the new Ivor Wynne will not compare. But BMO Field hosts a major-league soccer team and has a market of many other events, neither which is the case for Ivor Wynne. I agree with your other points, and am pleased we are not pouring money into a splashy stadium with a poor business case. The new stadium will serve the Ti Cats well, but not be used for much else.

Yes BMO is a great venue. I also think THF is a good venue and serves it purpose and makes the cats profitable.

No denying BMO is a better soccer venue. But it was purpose built for soccer while THF was built for both soccer and football. It will be interesting to see how the two compare when/ if BMO is made convertible to CFL football.

Interesting that they decided to host rugby at BMO for the pan ams.

Last year there was talk of a new Canadian soccer league, with Bob Young owning the Hamilton team and playing at THF. Below is from Canadian soccer news; http://www.canadiansoccernews.com/in...n-league-r4701 :

That's incredibly weird considering they've officially been referring to it as the James North station up to this point.

I don't think that "James Street North" would mean as much to users elsewhere in the system as "Hamilton- West Harbour" will. And "West Harbour" sounds better somehow.
