Ok thanks. Though I personally think it would have been better to build the soccer complex on the other side because that is where parking and everything else. Unless they are planning more parking off Leila. Otherwise people will just continue to invade the mall parking lot.

The links in this thread specifically say there will be only two rinks at Seven Oaks. I think the plan is once they are operational to retire the rink at West Kildonan CC. That said, I had heard the long established indoor soccer pitch at the site was designed for a possible conversion to an indoor ice rink. With the opening of the larger soccer complex on the site perhaps the near term plan is to convert the existing soccer space to an ice rink.

Proposal to upgrade withdrawn by developer in Sept 2011 according to Winnipeg Free Press Article.

How does the housing co-op work?

some housing co-ops allow u to buy into it like shares of sorts cant remember the exact rules but theres quite a few different models now in manitoba

Interesting that Lloyd Axworthy is leading the fundraising for the project. A few years back the site of the new University of Winnipeg Commons apartment building was pitched by Ax as a site for affordable housing for community groups including Performing Arts Lodge, but that deal didn't get off the ground.

My understanding is a housing co-op you don't necessarily own your own unit like you would with a condo but the building is run in a somewhat similar manner with all the revenue staying within the building.

Apologize for the length but got a couple things I'm curious about.

1) I noticed construction fencing went up all around the Calvary lot today. But it also includes the separate, private lot behind A+ Supplies, which I didn't know. Is this going ahead? Are we losing Luke's? — When I was leaving RRC on Princess, looking down Adelaide it's awesome that it's there to bookend the street, would 🞵🞵🞵🞵 to lose that.

Maybe this is something TV can look into/write about: If Hydro is gonna build on that lot, it'd be awesome to incorporate something the public can benefit from, like say relocating the Electrical Museum. IT'd be cool to go to the museum then get a tour of how the station works. It'd just be a shame for that entire block to be dead, especially since the city wants to build up Innovation Alley. Really, the EM would be a PERFECT fit there.

2) This house on Donald is being demolished, fencing also went up today — anyone heard of the plans?

3) Kind of an old topic but does anyone know if the Canada Building is ever gonna get the love that was proposed for the exterior? It seems odd to spend millions gutting the entire building and leaving the entrance looking so poor. Even a coat of paint and a new sign would be a huge upgrade.

I always found that little house one of the oddities in downtown as a holdover from what that neighborhood once was a century ago.
