Non-stop service is not possible from Atlanta to anywhere in Australia unless you take out half the seats on a range-capable aircraft (A340-500 or 777-200LR). We already have 1-stop service to SYD on Delta.

There is a non-stop between Dallas and Sydney - currently the longest flight I believe.
Several years ago I flew non-stop NYC to Singapore (almost 19 hours); the flight was only business class. It ended because it was not financially sustainable. Atlanta to Sydney is probably possible technically, but not financially feasible.

Qantas

Could some of Qantas' flights to LAX or SFO continue on to Atlanta? Perhaps, they aren't allowed to fly domestic routes. I don't know anything about it. Sorry, I've continued the off topic posts.

Thanks everyone for the recent construction update pics. I've been away from town for awhile now and would love to see many more.

That's what I was saying. The flight from Dallas is 700 miles shorter, has to make a refueling stop in Brisbane, and is still weight restricted.

They are, but they are not allowed to carry local traffic on that flight, only traffic originating or destined for Australia. They currently have an LAX-JFK flight.

It will be staggered.

Most of the offices in the first phase are already occupied. Buildout is currently in process for additional office space.

Some of the retail units have begun buildout (Anthropologie recently painted signage above the store a and fixtures were recently delivered, the store next to them is doing interior buildout). The central food hall is also well under way --and can't be completed fast enough if you ask me!

I have never seen that proposal before, but it seems like a pipedream. Would be cool and iconic if it was in Atlanta only, but I don't really believe the market is there?

United Rental has moved...

United Rentals, at the corner of 14th and Howell Mill, has moved.

Is there an active proposal for this corner?

First Polercoaster to be built near Atlanta
BoomTown, Georgia, USAUS Thrill Rides Polarcoaster

LakePoint Sporting Community near Atlanta, Georgia has announced plans to build the world's first Polercoaster. The 325 foot tall dual-attraction features one of the world's tallest roller coasters with multiple loops, barrel rolls and high G-force maneuvers as well as a retail, restaurant/bar and observation area at the top. The attraction was designed by Bill Kitchen, designer of the SkyCoaster and SkyVenture, and will be built by his US Thrill Rides company.
In addition to SkyCoasters and the SkyVenture indoor skydiving attractions, Kitchen also designed the Unicoaster which he licensed for manufacture and sales to Chance Morgan Rides. Nickelodeon's "Brain Surge" at the Mall of America is the only Unicoaster currently in operation, but more are said to be on backorder.
LakePoint Sporting Community is a 1,400 acre development under construction that will feature state-of-the-art venues for youth sports, on-site hotels, restaurants, retail shops, office space and several other entertainment venues. BoomTown will be the gateway to the development with themed restaurants, a movie theater and the Polercoaster.

Is't it about time GA put a ring on it and allowed for organized gambling.

Terminus

Thanks for the updates everyone. It's really good to see all the progress being made around town. I have one of my own that hasn't been discussed in a while. It's the enclosed courtyard at Terminus. I use to work in the Terminus building and I can tell you coming out that building in the winter felt like the wrath of God. The winds were so strong you could barely walk. I'm glad Cousins realized the need to get this fixed.

Sometime last week I noticed the crown was blue so I took a picture of it. It would've been nice to see it traveling 400N.

I was wondering when that was going to start. It's funny that they put signs up saying it would start in January, then in January they changed them to "we're digging!" I guess they were hoping the fencing would hide the total lack of progress that was actually going on

There was a bill this year to allow casinos in Atlanta and other places. I'm not sure if it was voted on yet.

The legislative session has been over for a month-- The present legislature will never allow gambling in GA--

Hah. Give how insanely large the metro Atlanta area is, you know it's nowhere close to Atlanta when they have to say it's "near Atlanta" rather than in Atlanta."

I am partial to that shade of blue, as it reminds me of the courtesy lights in the old Pullman railway cars.

While in the area I noticed they are starting to go vertical with the Three Alliance tower. Hope that turns out as well as the renderings.
