Thanks. Good overview and photos.

For me HK is exciting to visit but I agree with others who've said it would be too intense for them to live there. Surprisingly (or not), I think Shanghai is the city in China where I'd choose to live for a couple of years. But not longer than that because of the pollution, which you're right does cast a haze over all Chinese cities unless the wind is blowing onshore. An acquaintance of mine just moved back to London from Shanghai after almost 10 years, because his kids (born there) were starting to develop asthma.

I agree it is sad about the pollution, that and the crowds are too reasons I couldn't move there. Pollution that causes diseases and grey skies in otherwise amazing cities. It seems like the south part of Hong Kong, shown above, got more sun when the central part, I think that's why all rich people want to live there.

Call me crazy, but I didn't find shanghai or HK that overwhling or crowded outside of rush hour.

Mind you, I don't find Tokyo that crazy either.

All are very manageable.

I think Hong Kong is more hectic than either Tokyo or Shanghai. Shanghai, at street level, and outside of the main shopping streets or the Bund riverbank on a Saturday, is less crowded than NYC.

Some parts and streets of Hong Kong are not that crowded either. I found Guangzhou much more crowded then HK, except for the business district.

Queens Road West, just outside our hotel. A gritty and more genuine HK area then for example Central and TST.

Our hotel room was very tiny but offered these great views over Victoria Harbour.

This is how the construct highrises in Hong Kong. View from our hotel room.

Best Western Harbour View, we stayed at this 38-storey 4 star hotel.
