Catskill, NY

Here are some shots I took a few days ago. Only has a population of 11,000 or so.....but feels very urban.

Nice pictures. Looks like a nice village. Interesting lopped-off steeple.

Superb! Was anyone else walking around, tho? Seemed empty of pedestrians despite the lovely urban density.

Love towns that are urban for their size. Thanks for sharing these!

It wasn't as quiet as my photos suggest...there were a few people about. Actually there are some really interesting row homes in Catskill....that I photo'd as well but the people in them objected....so out of deference I haven't posted them. Unfortunate, as they were the best of the lot. It is getting harder and harder to take photos without rustling some people's tail feathers! Many people just cannot comprehend our little hobby! If you are ever in Catskill that Village Pizza is awesome......even by NYC standards.

Thanks for your pictures of Catskill, boden! Catskill looks a pleasant small town.

I´ve seen in some magazines that the area surrounding Catskill and Hudson, all the Hudson Valley, is very pretty. I´d like to visit that area, specially by Fall.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

I like it boden, I like it a lot. Catskill is one of those gritty Hudson River towns that has seen better days. That doesn't mean the place can't reinvent itself (Kingston is doing that).
I didn't notice any of the Cat displays I saw when I visited a while back:

Hopefully they return.

Thanks for the tour.

I suspect that this town at one time had a much larger population, no? Nice old architecture though. It must be one of those historic upstate NY towns waiting to "happen" by the hipster crowd, or maybe it's already started.

Most of New York's upstate towns and cities have lost people....I'm sure Catskill has too. There are very few jobs, and most of what's on offer is low paying. There is growing desperation in many of these towns...it is palpable.....despite the so called improving economy. Thanks for the replies.
