The Chronicle is being a bit coy about the start of construction on the Post Oak. They say site prep is happening. BisNow calls it a ground-breaking.

most of us are excited about it, due to the simple fact that houston "typically" doesn't get much better hotel tower designs. beggars can't be choosers.....

I do find it dissappointing that it is surrounded by parking garages on both the north and south side.

In addition to that, the entire development is geared towards vehicular traffic.

It's a tall building, but it only adds to the false sense of urbanity in Uptown.

...plus it's a suburban building along the freeway and it's not a glass box. It's kinda got an art deco feel to it. I like it. Better than Randall Davis' buildings.

I understand the parking lot adjacent to the Great Southwestern tower will soon have construction for an eight story apartment building. Highly anticipating the 40 story near the Marquis Marriott.

I rather like both the Tilman and Davis buildings. At least they're interesting.

He should have called it the Arabica and had free coffee in the bar.

Having this building on one side of 610 and the Fertitta tower on the other, plus the Amegy and the other highrises is really going to give the freeway a canyon feel.

Do we know if this building is taking up that whole block, including the apartments and retail (facing Kirby)?
