Crossroads

The Crossroads is the final puzzle piece in the pedestrian pathway that links key elements of East Village: the new St. Patrick’s Bridge, RiverWalk, the Riff pedestrian street and Fort Calgary. The anchor of the Crossroads plaza is its Wheel of Women, an interpretive ground-level installation that celebrates Calgary women of influence throughout the city’s history. Crossroads also offers historical elements – a nod to the nearby Fort Calgary – as well as a children’s playground and EV’s thriving community gardens. This thoughtfully-landscaped area is designed by the renowned Canadian landscape architecture firm Moriyama & Teshima, and Calgary’s Stantec Consulting – the same team that made RiverWalk the special place it is. The community gardens and playground component was carefully designed by notable Canadian firm 5468796 Inc. and is scheduled to begin construction this summer.

I have to say, I LOL'd at the fact that the CMLC seems to believe that "notable Canadian firm" and "5468796 Inc." goes together. Does anyone actually have any clue who this numbered company is?? Isn't that the whole point of a numbered company??

I know who they are. They've done some awesome stuff actually. They're based in Winnipeg.

They've designed stuff in Helsinki, Victoria, Regina, some smaller towns around the country, and for the Canada Council for the Arts. A really fantastic small-scale developer for sure. We're lucky to have them here.









and this one actually won Future Project of the Year at the World Architecture Festival 2014.

Yeah I know of them as well. After hearing about the M2 Block being from a Calgarian Architect - was hoping to get something from 5468796 Inc. or some other small Canadian architecture firms in EV. Something like the OMS Stage would be amazing along the River Walk.
