I've been away from Austin for about a year - So what's the current status of the unlucky restaurant spot just across the street?

Edit: I was talking about
1003 Barton Springs Rd
Austin, TX 78704

Looks like it's still Terry Black's on google maps, so finally one stuck!

I just came across this. Is it the same site as Austin Proper? It dates back to Oct. 2014.

I'm glad that that never got released, because I would have been SOOOOO disappointed with the current Austin Proper design compared to that ABSOLUTELY stunning design.

That design was 35 stories and has soooo much elegance and looks to be ~450.

The 717 East Parmer building GM is in now in Northwest Austin is owned by Karlin Real Estate. That's the same company that is building the new building on McCallen Pass, called Parmer 3.2, that GM just bought. They closed on it at the end of March. That Parmer 3.2 building is part of a 3 million-square-foot project known as PARMER which Karlin is developing. http://parmeraustin.com/

It's bigger than Phoenix and Atlanta, yes. Warren (the one outside of Detroit) is still bigger or so I'm told (I've not been there).

I would love for them to build this on the lot across from Proper. This is the kind of building I would like to see in Austin as opposed to rectangles and square boxes..

Texas Public Policy Foundation - 901 Congress. I like how this building turned out. It really "fits" on Congress Avenue.

Parking Garage at 5th & Brazos. For a parking garage, this looks great. Does anyone know if the exposed concrete at the structure's corner is going to get the black/gray/white/ checker treatment. I like the green they used, too because it complements the glass at 501 Congress.

Sixth Street. Exterior renovations continue on the Littlefield Quarters.

It's gorgeous, and exactly as you said re: Congress. Nice to hang on to some of the classics.

Very cool effect, and the theme is echoed in the Westin's color scheme. I love that pic that shows the three of them.

422 at The Lake seems like it's been progressing at a pace that makes the Hotel Indigo's construction crew look like it's comprised of Chinese workers who were exiled for their reckless haste.

422 is framed. Very quick to frame a building. Indigo is concrete which obviously takes longer. The TPPF would be a lot cooler if it was anything else occupying the building. And I mean anything.

A friend of mine said her friend is working on designing a new office building in Austin for Facebook. When I asked if she meant interior designing (thinking maybe she was talking about Facebook occupying an office building already in existence or under construction) she said no. She said she's an architect who is designing the building itself and that they're pouring A LOT of money into it. She said it will be downtown. She's hanging out with this friend tonight and I asked her to ask her friend about height and location. So stay tuned.

Wow, great inside information! I can't wait to hear what you find out about any further details she has. Hopefully your friend remembers to ask!

How many employees does Facebook have in Austin? Is there a plan to add a significant number more? Just wondering.

Here's Rev. 7 of my 2015 list of the tallest Austin projects that are at least 10-stories and/or 100'. There are 48 active projects on the list.

Projects completed so far in 2015 have a strikethrough, and will remain on the list for reference but not be counted in the total number of projects.

Projects that are highlighted are either U/C or underway with demolition/site prep and have financing in place. In other words, these projects are happening!

Okay, I heard back from my friend. She said it's going to be "on Cesar Chavez next to the Power Plant" and "will not just be Facebook but will include other tenants" and that it's "supposed to be super tall". Sounds like Block 185 to me.

However many fit on the 10th floor of the Comerica building. They lease that whole floor, I think. Maybe 175-225? I would think they play on adding more with this new development.

If that's all true it will have no trouble getting financing with a major tenant(s).
