Yeah...putting a Jorge Perez tower in the Peachtree/400 strip fits nicely. Atlanta and Miami are both bastard children by another mother and getting more Related buildings here will be off the chain!

With the revelation about the Ackerman site acquisition, I expect to see some exciting architecture from Related Group. One only has to peruse their Miami portfolio to see that Related has quite the experience with building stunning residential buildings. I am rooting that Mr. Perez gets a STRONG foothold in the intown Atlanta market.
The thing that I most admire about Mr. Perez is that he isn't just a developer out for a buck. He has a Masters degree in Urban Planning and thinks about how his projects affect the rest of the neighborhood. Here is a short bio on him if you are interested: http://relatedgroup.com/2011/12/about-j-perez/.

Currently the Related Group has 10,000 multi-family/Condo Units in the development pipeline for S. Florida. I'm sure whatever he builds in Atlanta will be top notch. Here is more about Related and what they are building:

Related also owns the Equinox chain of gyms so I would imagine they might be planning Atlanta's first branch of the chain in one of the their buildings. Midtown would be the perfect first location.

22 14th looks interesting enough. Certainly different and more interesting than most of what's going up right now. Atlanta's not Miami.

I wonder if that is the same Related, though. It might be the one out of NYC.

That is awesome! It can't start soon enough for me!

For those two projects that are in demo right now - 1010 W Peachtree and Azure - is construction going to immediately follow demolition or does more permitting / work need to be done first?

Broadstone Terraces, 1010 W. Peachtree, and Azure all still having pending things in their permits. (Of ones that have begun demo work)

Modera Midtown and Post Millennium Midtown are really close as well, but they don't have any demo work. Post Millennium only has arborist approval left. It is hard to say via Accela access how things really are and what will break ground first cause you don't see too much with citizen access.

Latest on MMPT

From 2015 GA Rail Plan
http://www.dot.ga.gov/InvestSmart/Rail/Documents/StateRailPlan/DraftStateRailPlan-2015.pdf

"The current timeline envisions a phased development plan, building small sections at a time, both for the full station as well as the development of the surrounding underutilized property. This phasing could also reflect the timeline needed for implementing passenger rail service serving Atlanta. Currently the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is underway with conclusion planned for 2015. Recognizing the significance of the proposed MMPT to transportation connectivity in the Southeast, the Atlanta terminal was included among the White House’s “We Can’t Wait” initiative, which is designed to streamline the approval process for key infrastructure projects."

Gotcha. I was never really clear on the connection between Related in NYC (Stephen Ross, Hudson Yards, etc.) and the Related group headed by Jorge Perez group in Miami.

The website says they are sister companies.

Quite a portfolio!
