On the other hand, knocking over 50 houses in Ogden to move the transitway 50m closer to Ogden Road doesn't make much sense at all.

It makes no sense to do anything drastic along 11th St SE in Ramsay; it's not a particularly busy road, and one benefit of a busway is you don't need every inch to be separated to get benefits. The option that isn't on the table but makes the most sense is to connect the transitway onto 11 St, with a signal so that buses crossing traffic (i.e. heading northbound into downtown) get priority, and wait until hopefully CP wants to talk again.

It seems really silly to knock down heritage buildings just for a low-ridership transit line built primarily for political appearances. (I note that whenever the talk about the SETWAY in Ramsay talks about affected businesses, it's always the long-established Shamrock or those in heritage buildings, but no one seems to mention the sad effects on the Lilydale poultry plant.)

+1. What's the point of even bothering adding a transit link down 11th Street if you destroy everything on one side? Just take two lanes of the current road for bus-priority for this stretch of 11th Street and be done with it.

Re: all these alternatives - Why is there not an in-street with dedicated space option presented? Has CT lost all imagination?

Are in-street lanes really going to be that big of a political hot potato? These aren't high volume roads and for the most part they are 4 lanes when they could be 2.

In-street lanes are being saved for the north section. Can't blow all the political capital on the south part!

The survey on Green Line SE alignment options (the ones shown in the PDFs) is still open until April 1 at: https://greenline.metroquest.ca/

Calgary Transit wants to introduce late night bus service, or as Torontonians call it, "The Vomit Comets".

People will always find a way to cheat the system. They should just work on improving service, such as making those LED signs accurately dictate times and lines.

I wonder how much of this is because there was greater enforcement, i.e. higher reported evasion rather than higher actual evasion.

I bet zone based fares would encourage better payment. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many of the people not buying tickets are riding in to downtown form Sunnyside, Sunalta or Bridgeland and find the fare ridiculous, which it is. Or taking it one stop to the University or SAIT. Those trips should be $1, I'm sure there would be better compliance. I'm still amazed that someone can ride 20km for the same price as someone going 1km.

Guilty.

I do agree we need a better zone system.

The problem with the fare zone issue is that from a cost to the system perspective in rush, any trip that crosses the CPR mainline or the Bow costs the same regardless of distance.

That and they'd have to implement the Connect Card before 2050 to make it happen

Six years to have an operating busway seems pretty absurd though.

Connect card system still MIA. Can't we just cancel this contract and buy a system for a city that has a working one?

New Calgary Transit real-time app is out. It's pretty good.

Still useless to me until they put it on a BB platform too. But I suppose I am in the miniscule minority that have that problem.

This is actually the first app I have downloaded from Google Play that I couldn't patch to my Z10. But as another BB user, I definitely, definitely recommend getting Snap and a GMaps patcher. You can use more or less anything thats available on the Google Play store.
