If it's structurally possible and not a monster cost - that would be a nice renovation to have. The roof should still be open at every possible opportunity, but when closed - it could look less cavernous. However, I have to wonder if it were possible - then why hasn't any other roofed stadium done it? (unless there is an example of it in use).

I still think a renovation to the façade of the Skydome would greatly improve it's looks. Right now it's just slabs of cement - but if they could replace it with brick - it would look so much nicer. Love when stadiums/arenas incorporate brick into the exterior. Stadiums like the Texas Rangers ballpark look fantastic because of it.

Neat... but it doesn't appear the roof is retractable.

I think the answer goes right back to the beginning. The Astrodome had clear panels to let light in to allow the grass to grow. Outfielders couldn't see fly balls because of the glare and the panels were then tinted. The grass then withered and died and the next thing we know comes the introduction of AstroTurf to pro sports.

I thought you wanted an exampled of other roofed stadium using the translucent material? But regardless If the roof is retractable or not is besides the point. Im just showing an example of the transluscent roof. Also it is a natural grass desso grassmaster surface indoors. This would solve Rogers' issue of having to grow grass while the roof is closed. They can use that material on the existing retractable roof at the rogers centre. The white paneling on the current roof is reaching the end of its lifespan and will need replacing. The material is called ETFE.

The big O will host another major event this spring. Second leg of the concacaf champions league final april 29th. The impact won their semi final leg on aggregate tn over a costa rican team and play either a mexican or costa rican team in the final. They just announced the second leg final will be at olympic. Winner goes on to the fifa club championship against one of juve barca atletico monaco psg real porto bayern.

Huge accomplishment for mtl and club soccer in canada. Expect the big O to be rocking with at least 40 000 fans, probably more.

I did, but as an alternative to when the Skydome closes the roof. Between the 2 options - current retractable roof or translucent always-closed, I'd prefer the current option since opening the roof is always better.

I'm excited that it's actually happening. That is going to be a kick-ass stadium.

And original home to splash hits. The public pool in right field was reachable. There was no bullpen and pitchers had to warm up standing on the dugouts. Straight away centre was closer to the plate than the corners. It's amazing that a professional team played there at all.

The 1969 version of Jarry Park would barely rate as a AAA stadium these days, but then again most baseball stadiums were generally smaller and plainer in the 60s, let alone a temporary facility like Jarry.

Wasn't it the Blue Jays first-ever home opener in 1977?

That's the guy you want running a province (or for the delusional people out there, a "country"); a business man who A. convinces the Government to build an NHL arena without any sort of indication the NHL wants a team to move/expand in the City and B. doesn't get that Québec's separation would kill all business in Québec (see 1970s exodus of Montreal business to Toronto).

I agree with that.

But in the future you can have a retractable roof with translucent panels, so even when the roof is closed sunlight comes in and you can see through it.

Yes, I suppose they made an exception regarding the weather given the circumstances.
