Wow, I didn't know the white parts of the tower were going to be marble. Page 238 from the link above has the mock-up. This one is going to be great.

Why doesn't this fall under jurisdiction of the shadow ordinance, since it is right across from Yerba Buena Park?

The marble is incredible. This is going to be one of the most beautiful towers in SF.

Yerba Buena Gardens will always be between this and the sun. There's never a time of the year when it would cast a shadow.

SF is in the northern hemisphere.

The sun never makes it into the northern part of the sky around here, so shadows get cast in a northerly direction. 706 mission is north of Yerba Buena gardens, so it's impossible for it to cast shadow on it.

And its even more funny/annoying because their own building probably casts equal amounts or more shadow on union square.

While taking a stroll down Yerba, I saw signs by the old clothes store stating that construction will start in 2015. I also see a small track loader with a dumpster. I'm getting hyped what about you guys?

I'm excited about the tower, but equally so to see the Aronson get renovated, especially what is planned for the ground level:

You have to zoom in a little, but it will be mostly glass. I think it will do a lot for the street experience.

It's too bad they aren't going to replicate the detail of the top two floors of Aronson in the bottom two floors. Using big glass panels is the easy way out...but anything is an improvement.

According to the EIR for 706 Mission, the intention is to restore all the detailing including the existing Colusa entablatures on the South and East facades of the Aronson Building, unless damaged beyond repair - see page II.56 of link below. The east elevation on page II.51 shows all detailing on the east facade removed as a worse case, but I'm not totally certain. The rendering looks like it was created to match.

Awesome news! Really anxious to see how the cladding turns out. The white Cherokee marble against the glass/aluminum should be pretty amazing.

Nice! In another bit of recent news, it looks like the appeal that has been working its way through the 1st District Court of Appeal may be settled out of court:
