I could see it being a leaky disaster in 20 years.
It also suggests that they'll wrap the concrete wall on the south side in spandrel to make it the same width as on the north side.

I noticed that black drain pipe, too.

Here are a couple more pics of that same section from slightly different angles.

I did the Urban Grind at Harbour Centre yesterday. $5 to climb the stairs up to the observation deck with a free beer and DJ.

The north crane was raised yesterday but I didn't notice until today. It wasn't raised very much, though.

The sidewalk along Georgia has been open for a while now and it is a pleasure to be able to use it again, except for the lower branches on the new trees which are right at face level. Hopefully they'll be trimmed in a while.

Also, here's a look at the marble under the Seymour Street overhang.

Thanks for the update.

Regarding the trees, I hope they are a specie that will grow into tall, stately trees. I have, however, noticed a few recent examples where the city has planted a stupid, dwarf-like specie of tree that has permanently low, bushy branches that obstruct pedestrians.

The residential tower is only halfway up, but that doesn't prevent first company already start advertizing rental units in Craigslist! Completetion is said to be in summer 2015.

http://vancouverrentalagency.com/project/vancouver-downtown-telus-garden-777-richards-street/

885 sqf 2 bedroom suite with bad layout and below 21. floor for $5500/month. For real?!?!?

Oh well, glad someone can afford that. (sure isn't me, or anyone I know)

Haha I know exactly the trees you are referring to. Those dwarf trees are not only ugly, they don't provide any useable shade unless you're 3 feet tall. Being well over 6 feet I actually will avoid streets with those useless trees as a pedestrian.

One of these trees? I saw these today along Seymour Street by Emory Barnes Park. Can you imagine these things in another 10 years?

The trees along Georgia by the Telus tower look like they'll be fine. I just hope they can get their roots well established before the hot weather arrives. I'm sure they'll get the requisite hair cut at some point. And when the construction fence comes down there will be lots more room for pedestrians.

Maybe it's a furnished rental. That would close the gap from $3,000 to $4,000.

When I looked up at the office tower today from Richards Street there was a little blizzard of what looked like bits of clear plastic coming down. I wonder if it was the protective plastic film that this worker is trying to get off. I didn't envie him the job of having to manoeuvre around the fins. Might be even more challenging when it comes to cleaning the condo tower facade (last pic).

So I guess there's no swing stage for cleaning the windows?
(there's also those solar panels on the roof that would prevent installation of a track).

Makes the MNP installation look pretty slick.

I sure wouldn't want to do the window cleaning on the new Telus facades. Swing stages can have problems, too.

That's crazy!
Some buildings have tracks for the stages in the mullions - but that's probably not feasible with all the intricate facades these days.

Wow, certainly brings new meaning to the term "swing" stages.

Thanks, that is an angle I haven't seen before. It will be impressive with another 18 or so floors. Is it actually from The Spot at 933 Seymour? Atelier is across the street from me at Robson and Homer.

You are absolutely right. I wonder where I got the name wrong. Fixed.
