I have no other information than what I saw there, but it's in fact interesting to know that this project is moving along and that we can expect the construction to begin this year.

Also interesting in this document is the fact that Concorde Atlantic is looking for approval for the construction of a "shopping center or retail store" at 5085 Principale Ave. I check on their website and the one currently built behind the Jean Coutu is 5070 Principale. And since this one will also be adjacent to Rufin, this mean that it will be on the other side of Principale Ave across from the one already built.

I'm surprised that nobody has posted that the Sobeys development on Dieppe Blvd has been passed by Dieppe city council.

As previously mentioned, there will be a gas bar/car wash as part of the development as well as two other small retail strips.

To mollify local residents, a buffer will be created to protect the residents on Kedgewick in behind the development, which will be a minimum of 27m wide, a fence will be installed where appropriate and decorative trees and shrubs planted. An agreement was also reached that there would be no overnight deliveries.

Yeah that's not going to happen. The Sobeys warehouse is in Debert, NS and they deliver their products overnight. It actually is not even that big of an issue for the land owners as its not really that disruptive. Generally orders arrive by 11pm though. Having worked at Sobeys for 3 years back in PEI, I can assure you

The wording of the condition is something like: no deliveries at the rear loading bays (EDIT: from 11 pm to 7 a.m.)
. It specifically mentions the back of the store though I don't know the precise wording beyond that.
As well as the buffer zone, they have to build a 4 metre wall along the back for 100+ feet along the rear of the property to dampen any noise pollution for the closest six homes.

I remember living next to a CO-OP and from 6AM to noon, all I would hear was the beep-beep-beep of delivery trucks backing up. It's a non issue in the winter but in the summer with my windows open, it was annoying. I did get use to it and eventually didn't even notice. Just like the old days of the train whistles at the crossings downtown. You get use to it.... or at least I did.

My first apt in Moncton (after from moving from a sleepy little village) was right next to the train tracks behind Moncton High. Every night at 2am a slow freight train rumbled past for a good 15 minutes. I thought I'd never be able to sleep through that, but within a few weeks, I did.

Similar story here. I lived on the West side of SJ for a couple of years and the tracks were right outside the back of our apt building. There was a switch of some sort right behind the building too, so multiple times per day (and night), trains would stop and idle about 20 ft outside my bedroom window.

You get used to it.

Same here, lived very close to the tracks most of my life, then moved downtown to an apartment where the trains ran almost through the bottom floor. Never heard a thing, ever.
My ex lives next to the airport, big jets taking off and landing daily. Drives me nuts when I drop in but she doesn't hear a thing.

Don Cherrys will open up in May. It will be owned and operated by the owner of the Sydney NS location. Ate at MIC on Saturday and the waiter was telling us about it.

Confirmed in the T&T today. Don Cherry's was quite an institution in Moncton. I'm looking forward to it"s return.

I had one turn-off experience at M.I.C. and had planned to return to give them a second chance (because everyone deserves a second chance) but the opportunity never arose.
I wish them all the very best.
Very much looking forward to Don's return. I remember you had to wait in line at their Champlain Place restaurant, it was that popular, even sometimes in the middle of the afternoon.

Don Cherry's was popular when it was in the mall but when they moved they could never drum up the same kind of business. Location was key but the rent in the mall was very high so they knew they would lose some business but that would be offset by the cheaper rent but in the end, business was just never the same. Time will tell if this is a good move for a return for DC.

Unsure if this was posted before: I suspect that the Place Cartier project is dead. There's a for-sale sign on the property that popped up recently. Unfortunate but not surprising given the local vacancy rate.

The expansion of Aviation Blvd will extend into the blue area of the map above, and will parallel the TCH. The properties will therefore be high visibility, which could make them attractive to certain enterprises such as car dealerships etc.

According to the T&T today, 80% of the lots in the red area of the map above have either been purchased or are under negotiation, thus necessitating the new expansion to the aviation industrial park. That's pretty good considering that the current expansion is only four years old........
