Saw this repugnant piece of crap earlier today in a new neighbourhood. Yes this building is new. I don't care if it's for storage and built into a hill, there is no excuse for that blank wall!

Photo is mine.

I know this isn't technically what the thread is about, but I had to go do some work at the Yale Hotel the other day and let me tell you, that whole strip of Main St is ugly

I think Le Rigaud beat it.

They're ugly, but I can appreciate the Hamilton and Montreal examples for what they are, at least a little bit.

The Park. Yeah. That is absolutely hideous. It looks like someone went out their way to make it as ugly as possible in spite of something. What I can't imagine.

I also really hate that Hamilton building.

Winnipeg has one that reminds me a little bit of that too.

I actually like Landmark Place in Hamilton. I guess seeing it everyday for four years I got used to it.
What I hate is what is beside it on either side. You got a gas station on one side and a strip plaza on the other side of the cities tallest building.

Landmark place is hideous. Hamilton's biggest, tallest nastiest eyesore. The ugliest tallest in any city. The Complex G in Quebec ain't got nothin' on this fool.

Le Rigaud is just weird. But it isn't bland like Landmark. And at least it isn't even close to be our tallest or most prominently placed building.

I say nuke them both from orbit. Only way to be sure.

I think it's to spite the city for trying to force them not to use stucco. Well if that's what their goal was they certainly succeeded. I'd take stucco over this ridiculous crap any day. The funny part is the renderings showed the entire tower having clear glass. Not a hint of blue. Definite bait and switch. It takes George Costanza level madness to pull off such a massive prank.

Is that affordable housing? Here's Calgary's worst new affordable housing buildings. The first one looks like it could be in Judge Dredd.

At the time they were built, the entire central waterfront was rail yards and industrial land. I think the city was glad that anyone would want to live there.

it was built as a part of CNs "Metro centre" plan, that also resulted in the creation of the CN tower and the convention centre.

Montreal has sections of extreme wallmanship.

E.g., https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Rue+She...!1s0x4cc917293f98b20b:0x6612d05706a9d8de

That Hamilton tower would be a lot nicer aesthetically if the top wasn't larger in both dimensions than the trunk. Currently, the trunk:head proportions kinda mimic a dick's, and in terms of building style, I really dislike that.

Believe it or not, it's actually a condo tower. It's pretty old... dates back to around 1970 and it hasn't aged particularly well in terms of appearance.

The thing in Hamilton wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have that weird bulge at the top that lio colourfully described.

I don't even think they're the worst on Queen's Quay...
