You should never read the comment section on any news site. Might as well run into a wall at full speed. It has the same effect on your brain.

But they're so full of valuable information. Did you know our stadium is actually going to cost at least $425M?

Anything and Everything. If they can't make EVERYONE see their view, supported BY evidence OR not. They are not happy. There have always been these people they just haven't been able to reach an audience as easily as they can now.

It is true that the PCL contract included nothing for food and beverage equipment. Presumably these costs will be recovered from tenants, but rents have probably already been counted in the financial model, so this is just part of the total cost really.

CBC Radio's been blathering on about "the Stadium is about to cost more - a lot more"... then they mention $13million, and clarify that $4 would be for the stadium (never mentioning specifically what the $4mil will be used for).

C'mon - basic journalism. Get you facts straight, try not to editorialize (unless your writing an editorial, of course).

They are pushing this information because they know it will get a rise out of people. Even if facts aren't 100% right. Integrity can take a back seat sometimes it seems. Either for or against don't make it up, make sure you have sources, because THEN you can have an argument.

Anger transfers easier person to person, therefore news which generates anger will undoubtedly do better.

Always, that is why the US and Other International News outlets are pushing out what they do, the way they do. Fear paralyzes people. Information empowers people.

People against the stadium have been salivating at the chance to have something new to complain about because their old rhetoric of "Shoulda built a hospital, shoulda fixed the roads, shoulda updated our schools" has gotten old and no one wants to hear it anymore.

"$13 million over budget! Haha, they finally screwed up! Now I can start bitching about it again!"

If they would just calm themselves and realize that REAL is looking for a short term loan to invest in capital and operating expenses and that this doesn't affect building costs they would realize this is not a big deal. The only concern is that the city doesn't want to get much closer to their debt limit in case of an emergency or an unforeseen expense in 2015.

Yeah, thats what I read into the information (limited information) as well. I guess we will get a better indication of what the "capital upgrades and maintenance of the Evraz property" will mean tonight.

I took none of this to mean "over budget" on what was contracted. Capital upgrades I understand and are to be expected but what is "maintenance of the Evraz property"? I assume there will be a ton of landscaping and upgrades required to surrounding property - Is that considered "maintenance"?

The posters are more than likely the work of one or more buffoons using different user names they have no clue , once this is all done they'll be sniffing around the sight scratching there heads in marvel , some news sites do not have community spirit it's the naysayer that drives them

Looks like they have a piece of form work on the upper floor that is an angled piece. For the upper seating supports I am thinking?

Awesome I was right That is going to really look awesome! I wonder if the service space shown on the upper floor is going to be CMU walls or Concrete.

would think that it needs to be reinforced concrete as it must support the roof an the top of the upper deck:
