Since I'm already on the topic of Northhill mall I may as well post a few more pics of the oldest and shittiest Sears in the city which occupies the east side of it. Thankfully Sears sold the land in the parking lot recently to a developer (Oxford I think) who plans on building condo towers there. Not sure what fate has in store for this bunker though.
Funny enough when reading a blog about haunted places in the city this Sears turned up. Apparently it houses the lost soul of a former janitor who couldn't escape it's grasp.
^ That Sears is the spitting image of the pre-renovation Polo Park Sears in Winnipeg... I'm assuming both are roughly 1960 vintage, probably among the first big department stores not located downtown in their respective cities. FWIW I think it actually looks restrained and elegant, and not as ridiculously cartoonish as most big box stores these days do.

I wouldn't go so far as to say elegant. Bunkerish is more like it. The inside is even worse.

Unfortunate street interaction but I think a skyline as big as TO's needs a few buildings like the Star. Adds some meat to the bones. Too much glass just seems too sterile or something. You expect it to smell like bleach and my have any layers.

I Just don't find it that bad. I checked on StreetView and it doesn't have two blank sides. I'd gladly take it over the old Fortis Building or The Rooms. Or Atlantic Place. Or the Humphrey Bogart Building. Or the old NL Telecom Building lol. There's really only two or three buildings in town I think look better.

They are generic 1970s towers. I wouldn't call them pretty but, certainly not worthy as Toronto representatives in this thread.
