Considering that the Telus Garden condo tower is maybe a little more than half it's final height, it will fill this gap in the view looking east from Alberni Street.

Yeah, that shot was from my optometrist's office - had to get my glasses adjusted. 6th floor.

The residential tower is turning out to be quite skinny. Lots of airspace around it. I don't dislike that, but it is so damn bland with absolutely no color on it right now.

I saw this new noticeboard today on the office tower along Richards Street. I'm not sure how much life a bank and dentist's office will bring to that part of Richards Street. I was hoping for something more lively like retail or even food or beverage outlets. The sidewalk along that part is wide enough for some chairs, tables and umbrellas.

First they removed the 2nd floor retail, now they are taking those along Richards away too. I guess go for whatever that pays the rent.

Looking at the other side of Richards at L'Hermitage - the Richards frontage doesn't have great retail. Is there still one empty spot?

But I agree a bank that eats up the back of a Robson retail space eliminates a bigger retailer (but I suppose a bigger retailer on Robson would have meant even fewer access points on Richards).

From the corner of Robson/Richards up to the entrance for L'Hermitage there is Air Hair Salon and Bare Essentials Skin Bar. No empty spots. I think the hair salon may have expanded. It's a really long space that isn't very deep.

I would love to know how much square footage the big five banks occupy in Canada. Its hard to see a development that doesn't use a bank as retail tenant on ground floor.

Thanks.

It may be the skin bar (what is that?) that's newest.

Not to be off topic, but what's going on with the glazing at the Westin Grand in the above photo?

Am I the only one who finds this building kind of ugly?

It's not a clean design - it's Henriquez so it's busy with "clutter".
It no longer has the bold coloured fins or onyx panels, to distract from the lesser elements, so the clutter shows a lot.

As long as it's not photographed with Capitol in the background...

I think the west side of the condo tower (continuous balconies) will look better than the east side.

Why didn't they stick to this design? It's just another green monster.

It's hideous! So bland! Wish the city would've said no sorry guys you can't water this down. Stick to the design that we approved.
