This doesn't directly relate to Pittsburgh but I was down in Brownsville this weekend and saw to my astonishment that they were restoring two of the partially collapsed buildings downtown.
Great to see that theres actually people who care in Brownsville, it has one of the coolest downtowns and most historic out of any of the towns down the Mon and nearly every building in its downtown down by the river is abandoned. So hopefully they can find good tenants once restored and its downtown can attract more tourists, which it already does with the steamboat museum and it having the oldest steel bridge in the US downtown. I've always thought that Brownsville could be a cool enclave for artists and tourists with it being right along historic route 40 and with its immense history of being one of the nations largest manufacturers for steamboats in the US in the past. One of the ladies at the museum also told me that they were going to take off some of the modern additions to the old steel bridge there so you could actually see it again and that they will restore the bridge so it looks like it did in the early 1800's.

I also went back inside a couple of the abandoned buildings downtown, this is the abandoned Monongahela Hotel, which they are trying to find buyers for to restore it.

I also went into the abandoned hospital further up the hill, this building needs loads and loads of work. Since last time I was in it about 8 months ago, most of the brickwork on the upper floors has collapsed onto the ground and 2 more rooms have collapsed into the basement inside, and nearly half the second floor had already collapsed long ago onto the first floor and basement. To restore this building, someone would have to completely gut the interior and do massive restoration to the exterior. So, I don't know if it can be saved but I've seen worse off buildings in other cities get restored.
