I could have sworn that the big old building on the site was still all there a few days ago. It's mostly gone now. I guess once they get the finicky stuff done inside it's pretty quick to bring it down.

You can see in the second pic that the little wood office(?) thing they were building is still there.

I remember being in that mini-storage building once; kind of strange to know that a place one has been in no longer exists.

I always wondered what that building was originally built as. Looks to be pretty substantial construction.

I thought they were going to try and go for a 50-story wood frame.

There was extensive asbestos in the building, including the exterior, which is why it was tarped.

Yesterday we went to see a townhouse under Pomaria tower, just across from the construction site. Didn't like the place one bit and the sunlight of the rooftop patio will be completely blocked by this tower.

I remember that some of those townhouses had a cool layout with a catwalk on the second level - was it one of those?

Not sure what a catwalk is, but there was a huge open space and the stairs to third floor were crossing this open space. It was somewhat interesting, but we found the layout to be highly impractical. For a 1300 sqf suite the place felt tiny.

I would be interested to see a suite in the tower itself, although not facing Vancouver House.

By catwalk I mean a hallway/walkway/mezzanine with "air" on both sides looking down into the room below.

Ah, then I caught your drift. Yes, there was a catwalk up to the third floor. Somewhat interesting feature, yet quite wasteful use of space.

I like how in the first paragraph they talk about it being a 59 storey tower (its not). Then you get to paragraph four, and they talk about it being 52 floors (which it is).

Thanks for the link.

Global news isn't the best but hey, they're local enough.

Well the obvious answer to this is what many of us here have been saying for ages, GET RID OF THOSE VIEW CONES! The only people they serve are those elected bozos in City Hall who spend way too much time gazing out their windows looking at the mountains instead of running the city!
