It's better than the Humphrey Gilbert Building, our equivalent. But I'd rather my city have neither of them. We shouldn't have to settle for things like that in city cores.

^ I don't think it's that bad. It may not be a great beauty, but it has pretty solidly urban characteristics. It's one of those buildings that kind of blends into the background a bit, but still does its part to make its surroundings more vibrant.

It's not as bad as a lot of buildings in this thread and it's kind of hidden away so it doesn't offend that much, but when I worked at Bloor and Church every time I walked past this building it just looked like something that would be in Johannesburg or something. Maybe it's the balconies and the fact that there's chickenwire over a bunch of them.

Our downtowns tend to be more finely grained than cities like MTL or TO so a low or midrise building with such large a footprint would be less appropriate and less able to be accommodated here. It would dominate downtown and I can't actually think of a place to put it without having to close at least one or two streets.

If such a building were proposed here, locals including me would all be complaining that it should be built somewhere like Toronto or Montreal.

I think I may have seen this building in Montreal before, or one just like it. The sad thing is you can tell they literally just plastered sheet metal over an older victorian style building. So awful.

As much as we all complain that Canadian architecture isn't as curvy and edgy as say the Middle East, Europe or Asia, I'm very happy we don't have any of these dildo buildings like from Qatar and Barcelona. I think Jean Nouvel should have his Starchitect card taken away for these awful structures.
