For south Granville there should be left turn restrictions, like there used to be years ago before the city for no reason removed them. At least on cambie theres a turning lane on 12th and North of broadway which helps

Businesses probably freaked out. There should also be no parking on stretches of road like that, but same problem.

Not sure this is our traffic form, but the quickest and easiest solution to much of the cities gridlock is proper, logical parking & turning restrictions, along with advance green arrows.

Best example I have, Smithe St., drive North on Smithe and you'll inevitably encounter parked cars on the North side of the street between Richards & Seymour St., yet Seymour is the designated street that many turn onto to get to Georgia or Dunsmuir. Eliminate parking before Seymour and add an advance green prior to pedestrians walking and you solve a lot of back-up.

Same goes for Smithe at Burrard. Such a bottle neck as you basically have to turn left or right onto Burrard. Add advance green arrows in both directions. Solves a lot of issue.

South of 16th for sure should be no parking, it's just big old mansions, im sure people can park on the streets off granville instead and be just fine. A full lane becomes useless bc one guy decides to park. Add if someone is also trying to turn left you have 3 lanes turn into 1. Good job!!

Restrict parking and left turns and the city could alleviate so much congestion. And it would cost next to nothing to do.

Surface parking is a horribly inefficient use of space. Surface parking on part of the road that could be used for moving traffic is an abomination.

I think it's good for commercial sections, during non peak times. Such as south granville. That's why the left turn restrictions in that section were so good.

It's nice walking over the cambie bridge as more and more folks do and leave the cars at home and only take em out for the weekends!
Too many lights poorly timed, coupled with earlier councils' inexplicable decision to put pedestrian oriented retail on major transportation route.

This, and LEFT TURN BAYS, for the love of all things holy. It boggles my mind to see traffic along roads like Knight, Oak, Granville, etc., with almost no left turn bays, and almost zero traffic using the left lane for fear of being stuck behind a vehicle trying to turn left.

I'm sure all of us have seen situations where the middle lane on those roads will back up for blocks at a light, but there are very few cars in the left lane.

Q4 – Quebec Street and 4th Avenue

'Designed by GBL for Kevington Building Corporation, it’s somewhat taller than the East 6th project, and is already leasing.'

looks like concord pacific is getting in on the action at marine drive and cambie.

Vancouver City Council approves Marine Gardens redevelopment

On Thursday night, Vancouver City Council voted to approve a rezoning application submitted by developer Concord Pacific to build 514 market residential units over two high-rise towers (27 storeys/235 feet and 21-storeys/185-feet) and 70 market rental units and a 37 space daycare within a “6.5” storey mid-rise building.

The new multi-building complex at 445 Southwest Marine Drive will have a gross area of more than 455,000 square feet plus 411 underground parking spaces.

architect is GBL

The new brewpub, just south of West 2nd and near Cambie, called Big Rock Urban (BRU) something something is complete and evidently brewing beer by the smell of hops outside. The new office building a block away seemed to be complete except for interior work.

South Creek Landing completion update

Solid execution overall - looking forward to seeing more Arno Matis designs coming online in the near future (Focal/Paragon and Aperture).

One complaint: particularly on the Cambie facade, the high prevalence of thick aluminum sliding door-frames significantly detracts from the cleanliness of window system, which otherwise uses slick black silicon mullion sealants. Are there any sliding door systems that can be better-integrated? The Trump tower has a similar problem, though better-masked by deeper balconies.

For a second I thought I was seeing a dozen little suicide ledges connected to unprotected patio doors, and then I realized they are inverted Juliet balconies with the railings inside behind the patio doors...

This proposal is ok I guess.. I would much prefer all retail on Davie though.

1177 Jervis Street

....

This NSDA Architects designed 19-storey tower for Intracorp would have 63 condo units (almost all 2-bedroom) and there would be 28 non-market units. There’s a small retail unit on the corner of Davie and Jervis – seen here in the model reviewed by the Urban Design Panel only a month after the application was available on the city website. Davie would also see some townhouse units.

South Creek Landing Facebook showed pics from the last unit for sale.

Looks great - may be a bit close to the neighbouring office building though.

You can expect much of the city skyline in this view to disappear when the City-owned lands around Olympic Village Station are developed:
