I'd take that Brossard one any day over those 80's crap condos. They do remind me of the type of cheese that's going up in Calgary's Quarry Park though.
Note the elegant symmetry of the second Champagne condo on the right with the offset windows in the middle.
Across the street is Imperial Oil's suburban megaplex.
This might be a controversial choice, but I find Edmonton's new Airport control tower kinda ugly. The fluid metallic bands should be cool, but the shape is so awkward. It just ends up looking really hokey and dated IMO.
The only problem I have with this is having building built right up underneath the control tower. It just looks weird.
Controls towers are suppose to stick out and rise above everything so you can see everything from up there which having the building built under it, it seems you would have an obstructed view looking some ways.
I have no problem with the design of the building though I just think it shouldn't have been built right next to the control tower.
That's supposed to be ugly? Looks pretty good to me.
Spend a dozen years there (like I did, as a student and later, faculty member) and you will fall in line with the vast majority of Montrealers who view this building as a blight on the landscape. Not as bad perhaps as the giant toilet across the street.

Seemingly all of these 70's and 80's shitholes are painted poo colours and have a ridiculous amount of shingles and or fake mansard shingled roofs.
Oh and all these multiplexes that look like fake German pizza huts.
I don't think any of these are that bad either, probably because you can find them all over the city and I've gotten used to them. I even lived in a townhouse that looked just like those for two years. I'll agree with others that I associate this building style with the lower-middle class, but in general this "style" seems to have been really popular a few decades back so now that it's everywhere I don't find it particularly offensive.

We have quite a bit of the first two in suburban Halifax in what I refer to as the "pine tree suburbs" as for some reason the landscaping is always very forest-looking. The colours and building materials seem to be trying to evoke a feeling of wilderness like a forest cabin, hunting lodge. They're not attractive but I strongly prefer it over many suburban looks such as faux-European.

I find this style particularly heinous for the reason you don't mind it: the areas you find these in are completely dominated by this ugly style of building. Some call them ghettos. They are the 80's version of a commie block. Somehow in Calgary Forest lawn area these bother me less than in Southwood. Maybe it's because the examplesI posted are all on hilly terrain and thus easily visible from afar, or just the general barrenness of Anderson Road. Braeside in Calgary also has some of these hideous shitboxes. I guess for that matter so does Queensland. I can tolerate it more somehow when there are copious amounts of deciduous trees around to obscure it from view. Somehow when they are surrounded by Evergreens or Spruce they look even worse though.
These are a dime-a-dozen in London. As are newer versions of this format.
The foliage is quite nice.
