Maybe this is old news but I saw a sign in Sandy today for the Renaissance Towers. It showed a couple 12 story buildings near the Front Runner station at 10600 south. Does anyone have more info on this? There were also some new apartments going up across the street, it seems like a good project.

Renaissance Towers
10400 South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, UT 84095
Class A Transportation Oriented Development. Two (2), 12-story 360,000 square foot office towers with highly efficient 30,000 square foot plate. Renaissance also features structured parking and enhanced infrastructure.

Transportation Oriented Development (TOD) located on the I-15 freeway

These would go just west of the I-15 and South Towne Mall where the front runner station is.

I hope they break ground on this soon. Also I think this is in South Jordan, not Sandy.

You are correct South Jordan is on the West side of I-15 and Sandy is on the East side. It will be interesting to see as that area develops with South Jordan wanting to build higher density on their side and Sandy building their downtown on the other. It may look like the same downtown for a city but in reality will be two separate cities. Makes me wonder if there are other areas like that developing around in other areas of the country.

Thanks for sharing the renderings! This looks impressive, I'm glad to see some buildings break the 10 floor mark in this area and also taking advantage of the proximity to the Front Runner station. Do you know if this is just a proposal or has it gone through the approval process yet?

Notice that loopnet.com has update that page 14 days ago and the latest say it's

Right now there's a little bit of development taking place on the east side of Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy where they will be a outdoor pavilion with a Big TV and a place for 600 fans to hang out if they can get inside the stadium, but can watch the games.

I really liked the idea of putting the stadium at the Fair Park, because it created more uses for the Fair Park, and more uses for the stadium. Win Win. However since that isn't that case I too think WVC would be a great place, and as another forumer mentioned they could put it on the former Hollywood Connection and eventually expand parking, concession, or seating, onto the Hale Center Theater site, (when they finally decide what city is going to line their pockets the most).

The RIOT is 618' wide, from the west stands and offices to the east side ticket booths. The Hollywood Connection site is 618' wide from the street to the east property line. So being a smaller stadium it could fit, although I'm guessing it would be a nearly impossible sell to the neighbors backing up to the stadium on the east side.

The parking to the south of the Maverik Center would be a great place for it, moving parking to the Hollywood Connection site. The space from the edge of road directly in front of where the concrete ends on the steps of the Maverick Center to the southern edge of the parking lot is almost 590'. The RIOT with the field and half of the seats on the north and south ends is 480' and from Decker Lake Drive to 215 is 1000' so a stadium could easily fit in there. The RIOT itself could almost fit in there.

I think that would be a great place to put the Monarchs stadium.

You know I was at the Maverick Center this week and as I was walking up to it I started thinking about what they will do with the building when it's no longer useful. The building is already showing a lot of age and there have been very little upgrades to it since it was built. The ESA looks better then the Maverick and it's 10 years older.

Putting a soccer stadium right there might not be a bad idea. For at least 20 more years they would get year around use of the property.

Bad news for the Hollywood Connection site for a Monarch's Stadium, there's already something going in that building. I like the idea though, would have made for a cool sports district

I thought it was a call center that was going in. That was back when the theater closed so that may have changed.

Tiny development news, but Taylorsville is getting a St Marks satellite emergency care thing at the corner of 2700 W and 5400 S. It was up for retail development for a while, I was hoping for something more mixed use, but this is actually something that will help the community. Prime corner for...something. Wish it wasn't this.

Oh yes, the Call Center, at least many of the people can ride transit. Now with the joint press conference scheduled tomorrow, the Maverik Center parking lot is looking even more like that is where the site for the Monarchs stadium will be.

Not as ideal as the Fair Park, IMO, but not a bad location. Nice little minor league sports hub out there, close to transit. I wouldn't be surprised if the call center only last 3-5 years as the demand for that property, as TOD's become more and more popular, increases. I could easily see a mixed use high density residential/office/retail going in that spot in the near future.

"In an afternoon press conference at the Maverik Center, the two sides unveiled a signed letter of intent to move forward and the beginning of an exclusive 60-day negotiating window to get a deal done."

Shouldn't they done the negotiating and close the deal before holding a press conference? Wasn't much of a press conference.

Very little was given doing this press conference.
What we know....

1. Talks will take place during the next two months.
2. By May 4th, ( 60 days later ) if a deal is reach, ground breaking could take place no later then early summer.
3. Details of the site was not given other then it will be near the Maverik Center.

More info with renderings here...

New class A office space coming to Sandy's East Village development.

Link with rendering.

Two seven story office buildings with what looks to be ground level retail? On the corner of State Street and 10000 S. Ground breaking later this year.

Granite High-South Salt Lake

A developer has purchased the Granite High School Building in South Salt Lake. I'ts too bad that the building could not be converted into a community center for the area, but a least something is going to be done with the property.

Do you, or does anyone else know if they are going to incorporate the Granite High building into some kind of development...or is that dead a long time ago and it's getting torn down for something new in its place. I also agree it really is too bad that the community center idea for the school didn't end up happening.
