honestly the first thought they came through my mind was an apple tree. those bulbs at the end remind me a lot of apples. is that a red early-mid 60's corvette stingray in the background 1st photo? i can't tell, the photo doesn't get big enough. it kind of does but kind of doesn't look like a stingray.

It's on display near the entrance to the hotel. Maybe another reason to go check things out there.

A cropped detail of one of my pics:

Most of the cars that would come near it on the Fairmont side are super pricey, so I doubt they would risk hitting anything. It's mostly taxis that go through the Shaw side, and don't park.

Let's hope the wooden bases are strong, but I doubt a Ferrari will do much damage. There is no trucks going through this small parking lot, nor are the people staying at Fairmont Pacific Rim ever driving one.

YUP!!

They're called "Silver Dollar trees/plants"

The sculptures would have looked nicer if the branches arched, rather than being bent at rigid angles.

we're getting a new tallest - pole that is

The Granville Strip, opening March 6, will boast Vancouver’s tallest stripper pole

Vancouver's newest strip club promises to allow exotic dancers to "take their shows to new verticals" with a 20-foot pole—the city's tallest.

The Granville Strip is set to open March 6 at 1050 Granville Street (between Helmcken and Nelson streets) in the Granville Entertainment District.

"As a high-end show lounge, The Granville Strip promises to deliver the elements of a traditional strip bar, while adding the upbeat atmosphere of a nightclub and the entertainment value reminiscent of a sensual and seductive cirque show. Not only has the owner put in the traditional stripper pole, but also added rigging points in the ceiling for these gorgeous women to dangle and contort off silks and hoops above the audience," states a news release from Waide Luciak, proprietor and general manager.

This peeler bar will feature two levels, a 6,500-square-foot show lounge, and be "female friendly".

Bosa Completes Acquisition of 1500 West Georgia

After months of speculation about a potential sale, Morguard has officially completed the sale of 1500 West Georgia Street to Bosa Properties (1500 Holdco) Inc. for a reported $120,500,000.

The 193,000 SF A Class office building sits on a very valuable and partially underutilized 43,320 SF, full-block site at the Southeast corner of West Georgia and Cardero and has been a landmark in Vancouver since it was built in the late 1970′s.

Any future redevelopment plans of the plaza area are not known at this time.

According to the Canadian section elites that is a very suburban looking photo, I kid you not...

Apparently Vancouver isn't allowed to have any low density lots undeveloped.... And for something to be urban, it must be a street wall.

There's so much jealousy-based posting in the Canadian section. Pay it no mind.

Look at all the green grass. Look at how beautiful it is. They're stuck in their bitter winter misery. That's the real issue.

Not sure if this has a hidden meaning, but... yeah. What was the first clue?

Thank you very much, but there are some great ones on the other sub-forums as well, this one included!

Am I right that the streetcar to Stanley Park is planned to run that green grass and that is one reason why those towers are so far away from the street? Those towers have one of the best landscaping facing the seawall.
